Help ID'ing this wood

Hi guys,

I got a good bit of this mixed in with the cord of "hardwood" I just got. It's pretty light, splits easy and burns hot... I'm thinking poplar but I'm not nearly as good as u guys.

Let me know what u think.

First picture looks like tulip poplar which isn’t really poplar but that’s what people call it and what most poplar lumber is made from. The green streaks are the giveaway.

The second looks like pine bark.

It's pine @smokee. i think you got burn't on your cord of "hardwood". Unless it doesn't matter, you need to call the seller and talk to him about it. if you need some tips call me if you stihl have my #. Steve.

Pine isn't as good as the hardwoods for heat output or burn times but it certainly can heat a home. I lived in western SD and eastern WY for a number of yrs and about all I had access to was Pine. Season it like any other wood (doesn't take as long) and it works....

Same piece of wood just a pic taken from each side. This doesn't seem like pine to me, def not by smell that's why I thought poplar.

I was splitting today but the poplar shave any bark on it for a good pic.
