i am going to build a 10x8 pergola. i have some nice ash and red oak. not enough pine. will the oak or the ash hold up to weather. especially the posts.i will put corrugated plastic on top.if the wood is treated with tung oil or other, will the oak or ash hold up ?

Ash has better weather resistance than red oak, as I understand it. White oak is very weather resistant if you have any of that.

no this will be on a deck. the only weather will be splash back on the posts. and temp movement.

I agree with PH, white oak has excellent rot/bug resistance, while red oak has very poor resistance. If you have to use the oak I would make sure to aggressively seal any end grain.
