Just bought a McCulloch 520 saw from a guy in Australia. Saw runs great but the Chain brake assembly is broken. Saw is yellow in color--original paint, Marked 520 with the Mac logo on the recoil but saw is actually built by Sachs-Dolmar & looks exactly like a Dolmar 540, even has a 16 inch Dolmar bar on it. Any idea if I can get or where I can get parts for this one. Guess Dolmar parts would just have to be painted yellow?

Pictures! we need pictures! I'm guessing that you will not get parts for it in the U.S. If it truly is a 540, I suspect it's a 520, either way painint Dolmar parts is your best bet

I never knew McCulloch and Dolmar had a connection once either. I guess you learn something new everyday.

I think this too is one of E-lux fine deals.
I know the made a deal with Sacks Dolmar regarding the commercial saws, since they sold kind of well in Scandinavia. I was hoping to get a bunch of info on their deals on paper, but that seems to be difficult.
This will time tell. On more than one occasion has E-lux used other company's for parts and for PR, in return they got the same. Like a trade.

I might be able to get you some parts I will check with him.

There is a big difference in Sacks-Dolmar and Dolmar.
But Makita owns all now anyway.........

who owns it?

Follow the money.

it seems like i remember a mention of a connection between Dolmar and McCulloch in Australia. Some time ago McCulloch was the distributor for Sachs-Dolmar in that country. So would say the saw is a 520 but never knew they were painted yellow and sold under the McCulloch name. When the factory gets back from the Easter holidays on Tuesday of next week I will ask someone that will know and I will post the fure sure information.

This will be interesting.
See if you can get some info of the E-lux/Sacks-Dolmar deal.
Sometime mid -80's

Im not familiar with any such venture between Elux and Sachs-Dolmar but I will see what I can find out.

Dolmar--McCulloch

As soon as I can figure out how to post pics I will--Saw is marked Pro Mac 5200, on another sticker/label it says Dolmar. Looks exactly like a Dolmar 540...BILL

I got this from a Sacks-Dolmar Employed guy. This is confirmed at a source at HVA, none of them would give me print on it and asked to not be quoted.
I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Well they do things in other countries that I usually hear about but there are the ones that get past me.

The 5200 was a model number we used for Makita versions aka DCS5200i this model looks the same as the 540 (same family) but it was a Sachs-Dolmar model 115 that was discontinued and has evolved to the PS540. 115 was 52cc and the 540 is 54cc.

Dolmar McCulloch

Mange--Talked with long time Dolmar dealer here--he has pics of 1980---1986 Dolmar/Macs. They were sort of a "sweetheart deal" according to him that really never took off. He looked at my saw & confirmed it's a clone of a Dolmar 540, parts interchange easily. Mine is marked Super Pro 5200. I'll get some pics going as soon as I can get my computer to accept my digital camera. He seems to remember that they were sold in Germany, Australia & maybe one other country but never in the USA. More to come, he is looking through his older literature to see if he can find an owners manual marked McCulloch, would be great to have the saw & manual especially since they are rare, Thanks, BILL

Just received an email from my counterpart in Austraila and he confirmed that Sachs-Dolmar did sell in AU under the McCulloch name in a yellow color.

That is a yellow Sachs-Dolmar 100 Superon the top and either a 100 Super or a 102 on the bottom.
