Like it says, when you're done scooping out the stove, what do, or where do, you put your ashes?

Spread them on the driveway when it gets icy or packed with snow. Provides a lot of traction and when the sun starts shining, the darker ashes helps ment the snow/ice.

dont the kids or dogs track it in the house?

I dump mine around my evergreens . Makes em grow like crazy.
When the snow gets too deep I dump them on the road in front of the house. I live on a big hill and it helps traffic get whoaed!

I throw them out the back door. When the snow is deep and it is cold outside I am to lazy to put a pair of boots on and go outside.

In a 13 gallon metal trash can. Then when they are cold cold, I bag them up and they go in the trash.

An urn?

Ha ha...
From the stove into a 4 gal. tin can, it waits outside nr the firewood until I need it emptied - this way I know it must be cold ashes... Then into the big plastic trash can it goes.

I'd go easy on putting them around the evergreens......
Ashes will raise soil PH by 1 point when spread out in a nice even thin layer.
Evergreens are an acid loving tree. You will over sweeten them with too much ashes.
I put mine in my garden all winter. I try to spread them out so as to cover it all by the end of the burning season. (100' x 40' garden)
If I end up with more than I need for the garden, I then spread them on the lawns.
If you compost, put them in the compost pile.

I spread the first few buckets around at the top of the yard so they migrate down.
After that, the gray gravel in the alley hide alot of it. The water flows down the alley so it gets washed away.

No kids to worry about. Dogs stay outside. And I rarley walk in the driveway. The garage is connected to the house so there is no need to, but it I do, boots come off. You'd be supprised at how much extra traction they provide, even on pure ICE. Sand and kitty litter just roll around, spread the ashes over ice and its like walking on sandpaper.

In my burn barrel. Then twice a year the township has "dumpster days" they pretty much take whatever you bring. Sometimes a pain to find a new barrel, been lucky so far..

true that. i'm lucky, just down the road there's some mexicans that have a bunch of plastic and steel barrels for sale.

they're not stupid either,i tried pulling a Hollander move and i flashed my hand once and said '5 dollar' and he got kinda pissed....

$15 a piece. lids included. i have a few and made a barrel mover, some heavy bar stock rolled in a circle and a long peice of redi-bolt with a crankin wank'em to tighten it down around the barrel, use my FEL for moving odds and ends around the property.
