OK ny first real saw was a Husky 55 Rancher which I thought was a really nice saw until I bought my Stihl 361. Will upgrading the 6401 to the 7900 be the same glorious experience?

Now just to find who has the cheapest 7900 top ends.

I got mine from the local Dolmar dealer....$218.23 and it's a Dolmar P/C.
Sometimes cheaper isn't always best.

I was Very impressed with the 85cc BB Dolmar/Makita Brad had at the Ohio GTG.
Of course I'm not sure how much of that to attribute to the P/C kit and how much to Brads tune up skills.

The BB Kit has a noticable advantage over the Stock 7900 P&C but I like the quality of the stock piston and Mahl cylinder better, and when ported it is an awesome saw for sure. :)

Hopefully, you will be making noodles like this guy...

I read about the great 7900 and had to have one. I bought a 6401 and put a 7900 kit in it expecting something better than a 79cc saw had. Seem to be about equal to a 372 but not as fast as an old 281. After i tested it and made sure it was running right i sold it.

I had a 281 and sold it to justify this 7900. She was ready to have a 288 kit put in her but I was scared of all the other stuff to go out on an old saw.

It should have had more A:censored: than a stock 372 and 460. Did you get the carb dialed in:monkey:
