Wow. Sudan is of of Africa's poorer countries, so that must be a pretty prized possession.

Looks like they cut there wood in the opposite direction of what I am used to seeing, and they use less safety gear:jawdrop:Do you think they cut off the ground like that because of snakes:confused:

Interesting if that's his felling cut. At least it looks like he's up on bar maintenence.

I will send him an email asking him. He is in Africa right now and has spotty internet access. My guess would be the guy is cutting a board out of it or maybe a beam for something.

I'm guessing that was a Teak Tree.

Southern Sudan has a lot of valuable Teak and Mahogany. There's a big illegal trade into Uganda, but obvoiously I'm not suggesting for a moment that there's anything illegal going on there.

That's pretty crazy, amazing he still has all his toes or does he?

Looks like he is keeping the bar away from his toes. He should be fine, if the warlords don't get him and take his saw.....
I have never cut my shoe with a chainsaw, though I did rip my jeans a bit one time, when the motor was running, but the chain was not moving. That was a wake-up.

I bet there were some serious noodles on the ground when he was done sectioning out that beam. Termite pasta.....:greenchainsaw:

Nice saw. Where's his ak? Maybe the camera guy is holding it. Conversation went like this: "Here, hold my ak-47 while I cut this tree".

He needs the AK to protect his saw from the Warlords. AK's in sub-Saharan Africa sell for about $10 US, and they are so prolific that an image of an AK is featured on the flag of Mozambique.

They are going for $400+ here for a standard stock model. I sold a Yugo underfolder when the craze was at full peak for $900, a few months ago.:jawdrop:

Maybe I should become a weapons smuggler, and smuggle some aftermarket 1106-series Stihls from SE Asia.
