A friend of mine took this picture in Sudan. Thought it might interest you folks.

Wow. Sudan is of of Africa's poorer countries, so that must be a pretty prized possession.

Looks like they cut there wood in the opposite direction of what I am used to seeing,and they use less safety gear:jawdropo you think they cut off the ground like that because of snakes

I'm guessing that was a Teak Tree.

Southern Sudan has a lot of valuable Teak and Mahogany. There's a big illegal trade into Uganda, but obvoiously I'm not suggesting for a moment that there's anything illegal going on there.

Looks like he is keeping the bar away from his toes. He should be fine, if the warlords don't get him and take his saw.....
I have never cut my shoe with a chainsaw, though I did rip my jeans a bit one time, when the motor was running, but the chain was not moving. That was a wake-up.

He needs the AK to protect his saw from the Warlords. AK's in sub-Saharan Africa sell for about $10 US, and they are so prolific that an image of an AK is featured on the flag of Mozambique.
