Well Ric I guess you did not look at the tag. I assume you do understand how elctricity works. The voltage is just one measurement. There are many factors to consider. I take 50,000 volt hits all the time with no issues. The 50,000 volts I get is at a low amperage so it is just a good shock. I weld at 200 amps with no issues as it is at a low voltage (well under 60 volts). I as well as everyone else feel nothing. There are many issues :Ohm's law does not differ

Look at the tag again.

Did you see the 400cyl??

You do realize we use 60cyl in the USA.

The generator is a specific application unit but is still a neat item to find

yes I tried to look at that tag but I am not really sure what cycles translate to for voltage.

believe it or not I have had dozens of gensets over the years up to 60 kw
but I really dont understand electricity that well.

I have freinds that will rewire them for me when I do the 3 phase to single phase conversions.

I have bought a lot of GI surplus stuff and know they use current that wont match ours.

was hoping that some smart army guy would jump in here and explain it better.

Regular household and generator current in general is AC or alternating current. Unlike direct current- DC- as from a battery which flows in one direction all the time AC constantly reverses direction of current flow essentially- 60 times a second in the case of household 120 volt power BUT 400 times a second in the case of many military generators.

The reason the military ones use this higher frequency is that it makes it possible to use much smaller and lighter transformers and motors. BUT it cannot be transmitted long distances so the use of 400 cycle power is limited to aircraft and other compact distribution systems.

And 400 cycle power can be used to power only a few items (like incandescent lights) designed for normal 60 cycle power.

I have 2 stihl saws that are takig up too much room. I cant remember which, but one is complete and was filled with diesel fuel by accident, so if it were flushed I emagine it would run great. call 253-686-1528 and sk for Nick
