YIKES!!! I was watching and read about those down under... good LORD!!! :msp_scared::msp_scared:

I saw that on TV too. :dizzy: That is a lot of mice. A lot. I couldn't imagine going through that. Have you got... crap, forgot you guys have heavy restrictions on guns and ammo down under. :( I was thinking a 12 or 20 gauge with squirrel shells and just unloading that onto them mice. Box after box until almost all of them are done for, then digging a big hole for a mass grave and scooping them all into it. I know, it's somewhat brutal, but if that ever happens here, that's what I'm doing.

-------

As for projects on the workbench... still awaiting some parts to fix and finish my Ryobi trimmer that I ported and muff modded... and will be clearing off the other workbench tomorrow, for an incoming Mac 790 project.

that would be fun for about an hour then it would get boring.. then you'd have to get creative like a ditch filled with carbon dioxide and a conveyor at the bottom to keep the bodies from piling up at the bottom..
god, i'm sick...

anyhoo my 272 was just on the bench getting the carb cleaned and now the tame thing (sigh)is back up getting the final touches done to the port job..

Might almost be better off with rat poison or cyanide in the grain :hmm3grin2orange:

My current project is my 1987 Husky 61 that I am turning into a 272. Getting parts has been like pulling teeth but I am getting there.

I took a big risk, since this project has been dragging on waiting for parts, I decided to try my first ever port job on the 272 jug I got from Baileys. Needless to say I am chomping at the bit to get all of the rest of the parts I need in so I can see if this thing runs ok. Nervous as hell being the first time I have ever tried porting work.

Well my project is off the bench. My 61 to 272 conversion is completed. This was my first project like this and also my first attempt at porting. It runs pretty good and has not blown up so far, so I am happy.

Wow! If i need help bumping someone off, I'm calling you!

I'm just selling parts right now, so I've got a lot of them laying around. Though I haven't gotten it yet, I also just bought a Stihl HS80 hedge trimmer to fool with.... I did my Mom's hedges with an 026 the other day and, even though it worked, it did leave something to be desired. It seemed a little dangerous waving that thing around over my head.

mouse #### and plenty of it,second plague this year:angry::angry:

You ain't experienced nothing until you experience a plague of these furry tailed little mother's.

a 288 that has the seals replaced on one side. sadly, i have misplaced part of the oiler and can't seem to find it. i hope it didn't get into the trash can.
these just landed yesterday. among the 346s's, some have good 50cc jugs, some will be getting AM 50cc jugs, and some will be cleaned up and receive a new piston. the dolmar runs, it just won't idle. i went to the shop this morning in my dress clothes, and pulled and disassembled the carb. it is soaking in sea foam today. i will put it in the US tonight. i haven't looked into the 372.

7oaks, where did she find that baby rat? i remember as a kid we cleaned out the hay barn and had a rat killing. the cats caught so many that they stopped even chasing them when they ran by. there were about 8 of us, ranging in age from 7-~50 years old. i think we killed in excess of 200 rats in one afternoon.

Remind me to never help you clean a barn. LOL I thought it was bad when a neighbor killed 55 in one spring.

This pack rat came from an abandoned gold mine on FS property near my Montana place. Funny story - later that month I was told the FS had blocked off the mine because it was dangerous. They left an opening, however, because they discovered a cougar denning deep in it. Wonder if she was watching us kill her pet.

Sorry didn't mean to hijack the thread.

since the snow is receding everyday, i'm finishing up storing my vintage sleds and starting on my vintage saws. i'm starting the restoration of my xl-12. i got to put a carb kit in my super xl (blue), and start to get all the lawn equipment running (2 lawnmowers, 4 weedwackers) and get the tire chains off the 5020 allis chalmers.

What are you guys up to? Sure wish this work paid like a software engineer. I don't know how I had time for a job, lol.

  1. I had 23 chains dropped off last night for sharpening.
  2. Got a 365 Special that needs carb work.
  3. Need to put a new brake handle on a 200T.
  4. Delivering the four BR600s.
  5. Need to drop and limb about a dozen more trees in the neighbors yard.
  6. Locked up BG86 that needs inspection.

Well shucks, Brad, figured you'd be cruisin' easy street now that you're C.S.I. certified!

That work's all done:) Tomorrow I'm hoping to drop a tree for a friend. Tonight I sold a Stihl FS 66 trimmer. On the bench is a brand new MS460. I got a nice surprise and found that it has a Mahle P&C. I hadn't seen that in a while.

Looks like I'm going to be busy for a while. There are 10 FS 80Rs, 4 FS 90Rs, and one Shindy. I've also got two saws that need porting.

bought to fix/sell, or repair for another shop? good lord, that's a ton of trimmers (or are those brushcutters?)

are they worth fixing? I've been curious. seems like they don't sell as easily as a saw....

NICE Haul, either way!

:dunno:

Most any shop has a bunch of old trimmers...seems you can't get rid of them. I have several, some run, just can't sell them locally and they're too long to mail..postage would be more than the trimmer is worth.

That's what has seemed to be my experience...

The cheapies will sell to the homeowners, I find, atleast around here...

but when you have a 6-800 brush cutter, your lucky to get 200 if it's nice... although VERY useful when clearing land, or having alot of farm/ walls, etc :dizzy:

I'm just going through them for the owner and fixing what is reasonable. On the BR600s, he got back 4 runners out of 6.

gotcha.. makes sense! good work on the blowers...
