I'm ascared,

everybody know a 21 year old has done everything, knows everything and is gonna live forever.

I know this as fact, since I was 21 once meself.

And I did raise 4 young 'uns through that age.

I finally got a chance to put my wilderthang back together. It has so much compression I'm fraid it'll bust the recoil. But hell they ain't hard to find. :hmm3grin2orange:

Decided to toss a friends Stihl 031AV on the bench and give it a good cleaning. Have a short list of parts I'll be replacing. Not a bad looking saw, but I much prefer the newer models :)

Please tell. What did you do to your WT to make so much compression? Lower the deck on the cylinder?

Milled the base .045

A shot of the boost ports.

Bored the crank centerline to raise it.

The pop-up is modest. .030 if I remember right.

Oh yeah, I know the boost ports are not level. :( To be honest I really didn't think it would work. But it's been months since I did the external transfer mod.

I tore down my 066 Sunday afternoon, I got it in a box missing a few parts maybe I'll be able to find everything. After tearing it down I'm not sure it will be worth it but I'll hunt some used parts. The Jug and slug are toast the crank also.

Here is a pic of the big end bearing if you click on it and get the bigger pic you might see the bearing cage is broken in more than one place.

Here is the number, can anyone look it up for me? 133915830? Thanks.

Here it is all apart, I got the bearing and seals out after this pic, Its going to take some parts to run again but I hate to give up on it.

Now all it needs is more clean up, more pics as I go. Thanks for looking.

less manual pump for now the auto actually works! Dis-assembed cleaned down to paint, its red. Carb and gas line. Runs and idles nice. Quite the roar from this one.

Pulled the Poulan 455 down, to find the oil pump seized, but gear is still good. soaked it and worked the plunger free and it pumps when turned by my thumb. Waiting for the local-ish shop to open to get some oil line, it is mushy soft...

Got the homelite 240 cleaned up and looking for a good ipl to see what is missing to link the brake-band to the activating arm, any ideas or photos welcomed. I will visit the homelite thread. Have it fireing off prime so need to pull the carb and do that as well.

Well it's not a saw, but everybody likes to see blown up stuff. It's a Kohler 16hp off my Jacobsen garden tractor. The rod blew taking out the piston and the cam is also cracked. :bang: Hopefully the crank will clean up. Got to order some parts now. :(

Here's Work Saw Collector's 066 Flat Top. I got it all apart, everything cleaned up, and new bearings in the case. Unfortunately, I still don't have the right case gasket. I've got 5 or 6 of the longer ones but none for the older shorter case. Oh well, I need to order a new piston and a few other odds and ends. I heated the case halves and both bearings fell all the way home without any extra persuasion. That's the way I like it.

I got the 066 back together today. One problem...no piston yet. It should be here in 2-3 days.
