Is Windsor Gone?

The way it was explained to me, Oregon needed the production capacity of windsor and Carlton for chain, and is simply re-badging Oregon trash, and outsourcing the budget line stuff. Anything labeled as Windsor or Carlton is either old stock, or chineese garbage. Carlton Chain apparently is still bieng produced though, and it will be curious to see how long it is, before Oregon manages to screw that up.

The Monopoly allows them to crank out trash, with little fear of market backlash.
The wildthingy crowd dosn't know they are getting screwed.

Stay safe!

Are these companies just greedy? or are bars a tough business to be in? It seems like lots of people who have had a decent hold on the market, or at least some decent market share, have just packed up their #### and gone home.

Howdy,
From what I understand the Carlton versions are going to be 24" and under. We were kind of expecting a bunch of Windsor Branded product over 24" to come onto the closeout market but, we haven't seen or heard anything yet.

We've still been able to get A3EP-RP in our Woodland PRO Husqvarna Chainsaws, Outdoor Power Equipment and Tree Care Supplies from Bailey's brand. We have to buy a huge amount to get them to make it.

windsor and oregon

it was explained to me that Windsor chain is Oregon now, BUT!! left cutters are made from left over overstock and the right cutters are made in you guessed it!!! China (I may have sides mixed up but you get the picture) there was a quality control issue so rumor has it they moved the chain stuff south of the border instead!!! box I have seen said Hecho in Mexico!
Consumer Trash is what sells, not what we on hear own. China saws, wildthings, bandits etc.
All oregon and other chain is now outsourced period!!! save for carlton, it only a temp thing.
Check your new bars from Husky, windsor, carlton, the newest ones say nothing on origin!!!!! the box or bag will, but are often removed by companies before hand.

Lot's of turmoil right now in the Blount world, and much of it negative. I'm surprised it hasn't been talked about here on the site yet, but there is quite a shortage of Oregon bars on the market at the distribution level. Oregon is also having trouble supplying Husky bars to husqvarna, which is why 562's among other saw models are NOT shipping right now. This has left me more than a little PISSED OFF, as there are pallets of 562's an hour's ride from me, but they can't ship them due to lack of bars.

Spike, I'll take my 562xp with a 20" .058 Tech-Lite bar please... Can I get mine sooner??

Dang shame. Haven't been in the falling business for a lot of years, but Windsor bars was all I used. Sorry to see the brand go away.

Maybe this will mean some GB bars in Husqvarna livery again?
I'm sure it's only a dream but wouldn't it be great if huskies came stock with tsumura bars instead?

Yeah Mike, either those or the sugi-hara would be fine with me. This isn't the first time they've been hog-tied buy bar supply issues, and it wouldn't be a bad idea to at least have a second supplier as an option.

My dealer was telling me just the other day how he has had a hard time ordering Oregon chain, for example .325 LGX is back-ordered. Prices have also hiked quite a bit, but I believe it was Stens that just had a chain sale end, so you should be able to find chain cheap for the time being, but in a few months?

Got a few speed tips stashed away from a sweet ebay deal, but after that, I might have to try a techlite.

I have a 20" Techlite and i really like it.

What can a man say Mike? I mean really. Maybee Husqvarna can or will work something out with GB. I dunno, just my inexperienced opinion lol. But, either way, I'm with you Mike i will certainly defer to your judgement as whether to go with Oregon or not you know much more about this stuff than I. I just dont wanna see Husqvarna dealers get hurt by this.

Let's not jump the gun here boys. No reason at this time to assume that all the bars will be coming from China or that we'll see any in the Husky lineup.

Spike do you carry tsumura bars or just total labeled? I would love to find a US distributor that had the tsumura oightweight bars.

Howdy,
Spike, I'll do you one better. I've actually got the Husqvarna branded bars and chains on the shelf for the saws that are held at Husqvarna waiting for bars and/or chains.

Gregg
