wow !

As a buyer I have had four bad/crummy deals on evilbay. Generally stick the my forty dollar rule. Cost plus shipping not to exceed forty dollars. I have made exceptions.

One seller listed a saw as having 'run last fall'. It was locked up. Seller's account (gina77terry75) has been removed.

Another listed a Homelite SXL when it actually was a XL-12. Got a partial refund. Avoid that seller. (crazedpaul67)

XL-101 carcass good for parts or restore. Did not disclose fuel tank leaked. Avoid that seller.

XL-123 carcass good for parts or restore. Did not disclose handle was broken. Avoid that seller.

The rest of my 40 transactions have been fine with prompt response and shipping.

Do not hide the warts and scars. They will come home to roost.

i would really like it if you did not bad mouth me bro i said i thought it was a super xl it was painted and i gave you half your money back and you caused me nothing but greif ... the saw was listed as parts i gave you my number but you were not even man enuff to call me to try to work it out ....im crazed paul and i did not have any bad feedbacks till you and had to comp you 1/2 your money to get a net feed back..Thanks alot you still have my number if you wanna run your mouth use it!!

If you have to contact the seller to figure out how/why the saw doesn't run right, you have no business buying used saws from eBay.

I can and have rebuilt a fair amount of saws and I have worked on saw for friend also. I hadent even run the saw for 5 minutes and it wouldnt tune no matter what I did to the saw. Im not the best saw mechanic i know that there are much better then me but I can more then hold my own. Im not alone with having this guy mislead people their are others on here also. the auction number is120749004655.

There are two words everyone should remember when buying anything that is used;

Caveat Emptor.

If you buy anything from someone you don't know, document, document, document. Take pictures when you remove it from packing, first start up, any obvious faults not identified in the sale notification.

Or do like me, buys your saws blowed up, then the only person you can blame is yourself.

Now, that is what I love about these threads.

I emailed the seller and sent him the link to this thread...... he responded.....I suggested he join the forum and state his side... we'll see what the seller chooses.

I thought about posting the sellers responce....but I don't want to get in the middle.

We now have an example \/ of why AS doesn't like 'Sour Ebay Deal' threads.

Toooooooo late, you're in there:clap:

I believe that is just alittle unfair. If a person selling a used chainsaw in ebay, says that it starts and runs with no problems than it should do exactly that when you recieve it minus maybe some carb adjustments. Other wise it is just a flat out false statement. I have a few saws that I have bought used from ebay and have yet to have any problems. Some from people who look like they buy bad saws fix them and sell them and some from people who do not know anything about them. I have had great luck and I am very pleased with what I have so far.

How'd you find the auction? The number was no good.

I had to google his ebay user name....I coudn't find the auction of the saw...

Yes...I am.....I should have said....I don't want to get in any deeper! LoL!

AS can be like a pack of wolfs! Circle and KILL while not knowing the WHOLE story!

OP....how long after the 5 minutes of running the saw did you contact the seller? Why did you wait more than 30 days to send it back? What did the seller say was wrong with the saw and what caused it? How many conversations did you have with the seller before he stopped responding?

From looking at the sellers feedback….he sells a lot of saws…..with many satisfied customers….some he had to resolve problems…so this kind of stiff isn’t new to the seller.

Did you mean "stiff" or "stuff"? Just one key difference between the two.

You don't run a saw when you know it is not functioning as it should. Repair it yourself or IMMEDIATELY send it back. No issue

This makes me terrified to SELL saws on ebay. I'm not trying to say anything bad about the OP or seller. I have one for sale now that I represented 100% and the only bidder has 0 feedback. Now I'm afraid my 100% feedback is at jeopardy. Grrr. Maybe craigslist is the only way to go. :bang:

Nowadays, I only buy and sell parts saws on Ebay. Can always find local buyers for working saws. Did once buy a working Jred 670 on Ebay. Worked fine, for 5 minutes. Then, the crankshaft bearings died, killing the P&C. Too bad for me... Once but not twice...
