I'm interested on finding a reputable boom service company. Having trouble finding one. I may go over where wright tree service is marshalled in the morning before they head out and see who they use? I have a TECO that I am concerned with.

I've got an ALC boom, wouldn't mind hearing about what you had done to yours.

What I like about ALC is that they drive around the country and do house calls for inspection and service. Just gotta check ahead and schedule when they're coming through your area. Not sure if other boom companies do this, ALC is the only one I've dealt with so far

I didn't think they did this anymore since they went bankrupt?

They are out of Bussiness but you can still get parts and I know of a guy who will come out and work on it for you. Here is a highly useful link from the owners son check out the trouble shooting loaded with info. http://www.briansparts.com/troubleshooting.htm

If I had an ALC I'd be looking to get out from under it, pun intended.

And if ifs and buts were candy and nuts we would all have a Merry Christmas if we were not a Heathen Pun intended!!!You follow me around because of personal issues and try to ruin every thread I start EX MOD! Well you aint trashing this one if you have nothing intelligent to add get lost!

What are you needing to fix on it?

Have a few small cracks in the lower boom insert. I called the truck mechanic from MDOT and he gave me a number to try at automotive services in Jackson MI. They gave me a number of a TECO repair guy in the area and also a manufacture number (I thought there was no TECO man. anymore) I will call on way to work and see what they say. I am just concerned for my safety and want to have it looked at. Every place I talked to say they have never heard of one cracking so I am hoping it is not major.

anyone running 65 foot lifts are you aware of this?

#15.5 Does my AL-65 need the Up-Grade
I believe there may be approx; 100 units left in the field that need the Upgrade, The years are between 2002 & 2006 Please do one or the other. In My personal Opinion, I myself will not even operate this model that has not had the Up-Grade or Cut down to size. The Chances of Injury are possible. Notification upgrade that was sent out for the model 65ft unit does not meet my professional opinion. Use your own discretion

Is that metal to metal between the rod and load binder?

No but that may have been you best post today turn the brightness up on you screen the 2x4 piece is keeping the metal away from the Cyl rod.It does look like it but I was watching them like a hawk and the metal is a good 2-3 inches away.

I haven't had my boom inspected since they did the cables and other work about 6 or 7 years ago so I wasn't even aware. I keep up on the maintenance but that truck is being traded in this year so not looking to put $ into it.

Will post tomorrow, found the place. In Ft. Wayne and they own the rights to TECO and have all the parts, workers to fix it. Have to send them pics tomorrow but looks like I'll be making a road trip. Gives me peace of mind and be legal.

Boom pics

Here are the pics. Sent Nueco the pics and their fiberglass techs said it looks like it's just the gel coat but can't say 100% without looking. I have a couple other things I want fixed so boom is perfect so I'm making the trip next week. There are a couple more cracks just like the ones in pic but you can get the visual.

Grease is the way to make it last long use the same grease or it could react and harden up.Dont use the boom to lift!
