I need a fan housing just so I can cobble him together enuff to pull him over.:help: Have no idea as to compression and spark at present.

Lots of old mag. stuff to trade or CIF (cash-in-fist).

Are there any numbers on that housing Carl? I have a homelite housing here that came with a bunch of other stuff and I have no idea what it fits.

I have a fan cover, What is wrong with your starter cover. I have one but one of the
mounting tabs is broken off. The pulley and spring are there.

Cool!

The recoil cover suffers from 'white death' and the inside ribs that control side play of the spring are eaten up. If you get too much side play, the spring won't stay hooked to the pulley. A plastic shim may work. Will try him as is for now.

Carl.

I have a new to me McCulloch Super 250. It has a missing leg on the starter, the flywheel is missing 3 fins and the flywheel housing is cracked. It is also missing the bucking spike. Does anyone have these parts? I have some other project saws or chains/ cash to deal.

I think I have a flywheel and flywheel cover for you Keith. I'm sure you have cool stuff to trade. Will get back to you after I dig through my Mac parts bin.:cool2:

Bingo. It has a crack in though, I'll take a pic of it before I send it, assuming you still need it.

Also assuming I can find the damn camera. :cool2:

I also have an airbox/handle off a big homie stamped 58179c. Anybody know what that fits?

Edit: mine is starting to crack in the exact spot where your's is missing the chunk Carl. Must be a common problem.

Fingers crossed. I have a few items for you to consider. The starter will work with 2 legs but probably not good for it. Does anyone have a clean fix for a prosthetic?

Universal PM

I have a universal PM in parts now in the shop. Looking at the Acres site the carb rebuild kit is nla. There are a few screws/nuts/bolts missing at this time. Does anyone know of some resources out there to get these saws complete and possibly running? This is going to be a winter project and I would like to do it right. Also, the chain is rusted into the bar and some of the links are broke. Any other choices of what i can put back on there? As I have questions I will keep posting.

Nope, quite a bit different. Unless, maybe install the C5 cup, fan housing and recoil mech.. I dunno.

Got a fan housing coming from Cliff and a new recoil spring from evilbay. The spring was busted in twenty pieces from the rust/white death. Looks like it laid on its' side full of water. No white death anywhere else, just in the recoil housing. Odd.

The mercury KE-7 engines share a lot of parts with these... Go here:

KE7

PM stands for power machinery, which was a forerunner of pioneer chainsaws. Some of the guys are really into the old pioneers. If you post in the pioneer thread they may be able to help you more. Keep us posted and take some pics.:cool2:

I also have the Collectors book that has some good info on these saws. I just found a place that actually stocks rebuild kits for the carb. "The Carburetor Shop" in Eldon, Missouri. Hopefully by the end of the week I can have that ordered. I have some pics somewhere.

Here is a link to the first post I made this summer. I still haven't found any serial number of evidence of one.
