Got the 47 going, it runs pretty darn good. Actually got to even make a couple cuts with it.

No pictures yet, too late tonight.

Might be a while yet, I had to steal my wifes laptop to even get on tonight, I think my desktops dying.

every once in a while you find a guy on CL that will ship it. My 4200 came from Wisconsin. If I was interested I would shoot him an offer of $XXX shipped to my door. Worse thing that could happen is he says no......:msp_mellow:

Got my 4000 shipped to me..worse pack job ever! Whomever packed it had never done a saw before, they used a huge box, left the bar on, dropped the saw in, taped it shut and shipped it like that. It was actually still intact when I got it.

Good news to hear on the old 47 Poulan:msp_thumbup: There must be something in the air, my desktop pc took a dump on me this weekend too. Luckily, I usually use a laptop anyway, so I'm still connected to the world, and AS.

Funny thing though, old out dated PC parts are cheap!!! unlike our old outdated Poulans.

Gregg,

After failing miserably at getting a good 3400 put together from many scrap finds, I just could not pass up this pawn shop saw, which luckily for me did not start(fuel line gone). So $40 out the door and runs great on a prime, the bar is a bit long but I think I have enough left over to pick up a nice 18 inch bar and chain.

Gregg,

My onboard LAN died the other day so I put in a old PCI network card I had here. It seemed to work fine but I think the HD crapping out now, getting all kinds of wierd stuff going on just lost my network connection, several programs just quit working. Just orderd a new MB, ram, regular HD and a new solid state HD. All my good stuff is on a second HD as well as a desktop external HD so I wont lose anything. Been there done that and aint doing it again.

I hate when that happens. I got a great buy on a core I7 but it came with windows 8. I hate windows 8:msp_confused:

I almost ordered Win 8 but decided to stick with 7. Plus I already have seven so nothing more to buy that way :msp_thumbup:

looks like it has had very little use. What size bar does it have on it? What kind of compression is it pushing? Nice saw.

it had one of those funny curved up nose 22 inch bar which I am sure it will pull, I just want it to be more of a wood slayer. I do not have a properly working comp test gauge so not sure, feels good for its size, better than the scrap ones I have laying around, and it has a bright shiny piston and cylinder. Needless to say I will have plenty of spare parts for it, now if only I can find that gas tank I put new fuel lines in.

Geeez, You guys are way ahead of me, I use Win XP on everything. LOL I guess I'll just keep using old Poulan's & WinXP till I'm too old & feeble to use or care about either any more. :D
I found a used CPU, for mine, a AMD Athelon 2.4 ghz. for $8 delivered. LOL I'll just keep at it till its fixed. A mother board is next on the list I fear.

Any way, to kinda keep this on topic, :D I did paint the muffler and rebuilt the carb on my 5200 project today. Did the block off thing on the gov. also. First time for me. I ordered some Sublime green paint last week, hoping that comes soon, and the weather stays warm, so I can get back to working on this thing.

Gregg,

I just bought a droid tablet..... wanted it for manuals while working on stuff.....steeper learning curve than I thought after XP........need to buy a little keyboard today.....the touch screen is too much for 50 year old fingers:msp_blushing:

Stay away from windows 8 Mark.Micro$oft had probably someone else on the mind when building windows 8 and not the pc users.Windows Seven are the best. And keep your stuff, photos or any kind of important documents on 2 even 3 HD's.SSD is the most valuable component of a pc.I have mine since 2009 and it is the best investment i've ever done.

+1!

Did SSD upgrade to daughter's machine and was so impressed with the speed improvement that I immediately did the same thing to mine. New life in an older machine!

I know that Mopar Mike has done the same thing and loves it.

I also do regular data backups to a DVD (just in case) .. cheap insurance.

Thanks for the validation of my choices. I do keep all my photos, chainsaw manuals and such on a second internal hard drive and it is backed up automatically twice a week to external hard drive.

That's one thing I need to do more often is to back up the external drive to a RW disk and keep it in my fireproof gun safe.

Glad to hear you guys like the ssd's, the expected life span is what sold me on them. Can't be losing all this chainsaw data.

Well you are very correct.I was a member on the biggest technological forum(i said was, still am but now as moderator, anyway) many years. Many users visited our forum to get advices for components to build a new pc.We gave them a list and we included to everyone an SSD for the OS.They used to say:to much money for a hard drive.Back in 2009-2010 the cost for a SSD was 250-300$ for 80GB.Yes i agree,it was a lot of money but you are going to buy a 8core-16thread cpu which cost 500$ to watch movies and browsing the net and you will working with the HDD,whatever.Anyway, the point is that an SSD is the must compont on any pc.If you want my advice choose the Sasmsung or the Crusial.

Sorry for the offtopic.

Just be carefull do not write all the time on the SSD.They have a write cycle life span.

I went computer shopping last week and it looked to me that Windows 8 was all they had. I went to several of the popular computer stores.

Gregg,

Gregg I have tons of towers and parts with good HD's and XP etc from desk tops (2 of them need $70 MB's). I went with all laptops so they are just setting on the shelves with the chainsaws.
