Are you kidding?

They ruin an iconic track that's used in magazines for pics and designation recommendations and covers for 4wd tour books, but don't cut any of that dead wood for firewood!

:msp_angry::msp_angry::msp_angry:

it was dozed as a firebreak for the harrietville fire over summer, its the line where the cfa were able to back burn and control the fire.
was in a meeting with 4wd vic on monday (looking at forming a club with some mates) and they said the local ranger intends for it to go back to an iconic 4wd track, aparently they didnt rip the rock steps out just filled over them.

as for south basalt pretty sure that was to be part of the last despret line before the fire got to dargo. doesnt matter much a few good storms will soon turn them both back to normal

I hope so. It's fairly wide and very smooth now. And at the summit the track down to the river has been blocked off but the track graded beyond the road block !?!

aparently to the river is to stay closed for now, 4wd vic reckon its extremely hard( i reckon there soft cocks) wouldnt mind betting it becomes mvo

Yep! Dumb it down to the dumbest driver/4x4 combo seems to be happening a bit of late.
I hope they open it up again. I haven't done that part of the track.
But surely they wouldn't have graded it and then close it for good. ?
People have cut trees down to make a go around already lol

drove it last cup weekend, some very steep/rutted sections, not as bad a south basalt though, pretty over grown to. wasnt a place to go if you valued your paint work.

Off to Aberfeldy tomorrow to do an install that has been rebooked 7 times by someone else! The road from Matlock down to Aberfeldy is a bit of a mess atm but should be fine. Have the double swag loaded for Axel and I if a mate doesn't make it. He has full use of a cabin at Matlock.

I'll get some picks.

the last time I was up there was 20 years ago al and loved it

Nations Capital....seriously

And take note of the ute towing that log ;)

Al's photo mind, not one of us Landy deviates :monkey:

BTW, I'm posting this while sitting on the floor of a deserted house bludging WiFi as I'm out of mobile range :D

(it's only deserted as the S&BIL have moved. Yeah, they heard I was turning up)

Oh, and the esky turned up today at the farm we're staying at, I've only just seen the box, haven't even opened it yet.
Excellent service from EvaKool.

The owner of the landcruiser I was taking the pictures from couldn't get it into low range so the landy had to tow it (the log). Stu the owner of the cruiser took it into Bright to get a mechanic to look at it. He hopped in and shifted it straight into low. Stu forgot you had to depress (or is it lift?) the hi/low lever! :hmm3grin2orange: Stu was the creator/owner of Crumpler luggage hense Stuart Crumpler.

Yeah you gotta lift it, sometimes they get stuck a bit if not used regularly.

this little orange orphan turned up today. Got it from the bay, across the bay. Hope to get it running, maybe even do a few things that will give Will and Neal a chuckle. But before I allow myself to get into it, I have to rebuild 4 brake calipers first, then do hub to hub rebuilds on my LR 110. Been procrastonating on them for god knows why. I doubt they will be that hard to do

Just done a full rebuild of the front end :s
Not hard just laborious!!!
