looks nice , i did not notice the little dent in the tank when it was black. if you need a strait er one let me know. like the clutch muff.

Little dent is ok.;) I could of fix it but its alright.

mag weld ?

nice fix on the muffler cliff.
i have a broken right hand crankcase on my husky 2100. i took it to a couple of local shops and got rolling eyeballs.
i know it's some magnesium alloy but can this be welded? is it worth it ? or should i just look for another ? there is a motor mount involved so i consider it a necessary fix.
i even considered stitching it with wire, then J-B welding it. lol

Yes you can TIG weld magnesium. I guess it depends how easy a 2100 case is to find.

There are a few guys on this site that could probably TIG weld that case half. Looks like the 'crankcase' section of that case half was completely unaffected by the break. I think that half is worth fixing. I have a right side 2100CD case half that has a section broken out of the bar mount pad. The busted out section is AWOL, so that case half is probably a wash.

The LH side is still A-OK. I got those cases last weekend at an estate sale. Was in the 'junk' pile along with a good 2100CD starter cover. The cases have a good crank, rod, coil, flywheel, kill switch, oil pump, and a few other little bits. Glad to have them as spares...

i have some cases from a 285. same thing, different id tag

Well crap. I'd assumed that the RH case half had to be different because the 2100CD has a manual oiler. Hadn't examined the front of a 285CD to see if those external lines were the same. Just checked the IPL's. The crankcases appear to be the same part number (if I'm looking at the right numbers....................the IPL's are kinda hard to decipher). It appears that the casting is the same, and the second oil line nipple (for the manual oiler) is added when needed. Learned something new today. Is the second oil line nipple hole drilled (or partially drilled) on the 285CD crankcase half?

You guys do realize that we're discussing a non NA made saw (in the NA Old Magnesium SM thread) right? At least they're big old Magnesium, and were mostly used in North America (and Africa, South America, and Oz/NZ).....

Due to the interest in old mag. in general we are going to let it slide.:msp_rolleyes:

Maybe start a 'Made Offshore Old Mag. Swap Meet'. It can be populated by posts on 041AV parts and such.

Shameful admission: I do have a 550EVL in the pile.

Your getting soft old man.:hmm3grin2orange:

Looking for a muffler or stack for a Remington PL/SL-4 or PL-5.

Got a John Deere 18 on the bench that someone painted the muffler into a corner. They brazed the cover on. :msp_thumbdn: I had to use a cutoff disc in my Dremmel to get it apart.

We have stuff. Lots of stuff. And, limited green printed paper.

Carl.

Logmaster GL-7

Looking for a complete muffler for a GL-7 (105cc). It is a little wider than the SL-5 Logmaster muffler. Also if anyone has a junker, I'm after the model tag riveted on just above the muffler. Need a piston too, but that part of the rebuild is a ways off. Cash or trade, let me know

Get Sawdust21's attention. I sent him a mostly complete GL-7 a while back to use for parts.
