Ya, the poulan PP5020av seems to be well liked. Just checked on amazon, still two bills, saw with case, free ship to your door.

Checked another, tractor supply got them 20 clams off right now ordered online, 180 bucks then, same deal, either in the store already or ship to the store and pick up.

I *do not know* if any site sponsors sell poulans new. I don't recall any of the posting regular sponsors or guys who comment say they have or sell new poulans.

There should be one though, if there isn't already.

Just go buy a second saw. She'll get over it. Always buy the same brand. Never keep them all in the same spot. Seems to of worked well with guns, can't imagine why it wouldn't work with saws.

I have so many my wife (in 3 days) has no idea how many I have. The trick is to keep moving them around and painting them different colors….. Lol

Where are you located Sawsforfun? I've got a very clean PP5020av with case I'd part with. If you're anywhere near St Louis Mo I'd be happy to let you run it before you decide. I may list it on the tradin post soon just for kicks.

You mentioned wanting to stick with Husky. Would it help to say that inside the PP5020's mag clutch cover, there is a Husky "H"™?
No I'm in Milwaukee I herd thous saws are decent for the money. I hear Husky owns poulan so it's really no surprise

Admittedly the H was not such a surprise. The "surprise" was that it was a metal clutch cover at this price point. Double the money they get for the 5020 still gets a plastic cover often as not. I was surprised at least.

What is the 34cc saw that you already have if you don't mind me asking? To only go up a couple cc may not really accomplish much unless its from a lesser home owners type to a 'pro' grade. Home owner to home owner jump up at least 10cc in size to notice a difference. I would suggest if your going to negotiate getting a new one get one slightly bigger than your thinking on like a 50-60 cc saw and run a smaller bar to cut down on weight. My opinion only.

I got a pleasant surprise using a PP5020 for noodling some big oak crotches. That clutch cover is really excellent at helping the saw spit the "noodles" clear. Just about impossible to clog it. For noodling, the PP5020 and Dolmar PS-6100 are impossible to clog.

Each one spits a rooster-tail of big chips, when noodling.

if it was me and what has been said already,,,, go up to a 50cc saw,,,, you WILL not notice a big difference if you go just up to a 40cc saw also its better to have to much saw then not enough

I'm starting to be more and more sold on the PP5020av the price point and what you get for it is unmatched. My local farm&Fleet has them on sale for 179.99 I read some of you have them tell me more about them.

Last I've heard, going to college was turning out to be a big waste of $$'s. Who in their right mind would want to go for four years, get a degree, and then end up paying it off for years and years to come, if ever.
People told me Envir. Science Bachelors was a waste of time but I have a decent state job now and the school loans are already paid off before I was 30y/o. My wife however went to law school and we thought it was a good move. $100k later in school bills and she still makes less than me. Too many lawyers getting through the two Iowa law schools and saturating the market for young lawyers.

I don't need a whole arsenal of saws two maybe three is fine for me. The poulan pro got me thinking that might be something I might like. I really wanted to stick with husquvarna though. the XP are pretty expensive not sure I can get one of those. I really not saying I have to ask for permission to buy a saw just like to let her know why 300 bucks is missing out of the checking or making payment every month.

I'm going to say this only once... Redmax is owned by Husky too and has (some of) their engines made by Zenoah (Zenoah is owned now by Komatsu Forklift/Backhoe). Anyhow Zenoah makes some of the absolute most beautiful cast cylinders I have ever seen, and I have been inside plenty of saws. They are cheap, light, powerful, and reliable. They are a Pro saw so they are great to run and head and feet over other 30-40cc saws. I have run the 38cc Redmax 3800 with a base gasket deleted and it runs a 16" bar with authority. They also have the strato 40-45cc versions of the same saw Redmax 4000 and 4500. Look on ebay...

3800: $235 free shipping with 18" bar.
4000: $330 including shipping with 18" bar
