I'd love to fall some of those bad boys down that you have in the west coast.

Not me. I'd end up dropping on one on my head and it would drive me in the ground like a tent peg. My wife would be pissed I expect.... might take all my toys away again.

I know that this is a Spike forum But I think this pertains to options for a 361.
Now do you have to pat more for the 3/4 wrap?
And what Advantage do you get over the half wrap?
If I have to fall a tree Standing on the right side I just use the top of the bar for the back cut.

I think the 361 handle bars are $50, whereas the others are $40, but I don't recall. Either way, the full wrap and 3/4 wrap are the same price.

And as far as full wraps-

Backchaining is a viable technique, but you lose all kinds of leverage. Small cuts it's usually not a huge deal, but on a larger tree in a sustained cut, it'll work ya to no end. It's always nice to be able to cut with the belly of the bar, which brings us back to big dogs, and dogging in, like you're supposed to.

You can buy a full wrap from Stihl now for $194 (yep, no typo !!!). They do give you a new top mount etc and it is nice, but...

I bet they sell zero of those... Even at dealer cost I won't be getting one!

And if it kicks out at you, the chain brake won't reliably activate..

Nope, it's different to the 441 and only available as a post-sales option - you can't order a 361 (in the usa) with a full wrap. Dumb...

Picking up a set of Spikes for my 361 and 460 tomorrow. I'll let you know if the parts were right or not. But they called today and said I could pick them up.

Thanks for the great Info!

Maybe it's just my regional warehouse that is backordered. Maybe it'll be a short wait. I already have the clutch cover drilled.

They're HERE.... saw is in Dave's hands now tho, can't install them. He's finished with it tho, and it'll be heading back this direction on Monday. He says it runs strong and idles well after the port.

We are expecting a full report when you get a chance to run it.

Define "full report"... :dizzy: I've got a 4 foot section of a 14" black locust log set up and new loops of Stihl RSC and Bailey's 30RC waiting to cut some cookies. I don't have anything bigger, but that locust is some tough stuff. I'll try to get a video of it, but am limited to a 15 second clip via my digital camera. We'll see how it goes. If the video doesn't work out, I'll get the better half to run the stop watch and take some stills. Which chain do you think will be faster? I'm going to cut a cookie with the 346xp and time it just for a comparison of what I have now compared to what I was accustomed to.

Theres alot of 361's out there that should have been set up with double spikes. Maybe stihl will get the picture. Or maybe they will just keep collecting 30 dollars after the sale of a saw. :monkey:

The sale numbers are actually very low... Most users don't care about dual spikes.
