Anyone who doesn't take the extra 5-10 sec to turn the saw off to get the chain unbound clearly doesn't have safety in mind or a good head on his shoulders. At least he's upfront about it, but what an idiot.
He could of just bumped it across the tree and freed it with some throttle. Makes me wonder about his experience?

Some timber fallers use that method around here ,saves some time i guess

I've seen it done around here to get the tree to jump a bit further down the hill so chokers or shovel can reach. In the days of clearcuts and large timber I would see fallers:bowdown: launching trees off rock points in units. The trees usually didn't stay intact and would break up. I've done some logging plans where I used the term launching, but it was always down the hill, not across or up.

If you look at the lighter colored outer ring you can tell it is bigger on the right side due to it being cut at an angle. Why anyone would touch a chain on a running saw is beyond me.

Look at the beginning of the video, just before the saw hits the wood ............... if he face cut anything, where are the chips and dirty snow ?

Yup. What would you do if one of your guys cleared a jammed chain by hand with the saw running? I'd think maybe I'd put him back to setting chokers until his brain started working again.

Not sure if my brain is ever working properly, but after watching many of Mr. Keller's videos, it seems based upon what he has to say and your stated food preference that he would tell you to give up logging and find a job at the Donettos factory. Can't agree as "Gobakeit" just doesn't seem to fit you. Seriously, I hope Mr. Keller lives a long and happy live despite his placing efficiency over safety.

that is not how to cut venner . let alone that log won't go for venner . I have seen people cut venner like that and they can do really safe . the only time I've seen somone cut like this is a black walnut venner . that Payed out 18 thousand dollars . life's more important then venner logs . that's not safe coming from another logger .

It looks like he comes across some good wood. As to veneer, based upon my vast lifetime experience of selling one "1" veneer log and less than ten "10" saw logs, I don't think those irregular butt stems are veneer quality but the next log up might be.

LW...I don't see anything I'd call a face.

How many hinges did you see? I saw very few, including one he chased and the flare/root pulls. Since it seems he is always cutting with the lean, I wonder if his techniques are his way of dealing with barber chairs.

I agree that there is no face cut, "the clock" that some have commented about is where the start and the end of his cut ended up

All videos are 1 month old or newer.

The chain sharpening video is a joke ...............
His post on a different site with the chain sharpening video said :
Title..................................: "The proper way to sharpen a chainsaw"
The post read.....................: "Watch this and learn"

90deg to the bar and a 45deg down angle - WTF?

I think what he meant by the 45* was to exert your pressure in that direction not hold the file at that angle. That is the only reasonable conclusion that I could reached after watching that portion of the video several times trying to figure out what he meant. Ron
Like I said it looked like he was filing sideways at a 90 degree angle to the chain.

Yea you're right after I saw it a third time that's what crossed my mind when I saw the chips on the snow but I was too lazy to go back. Good observation
