WT-194 is what I put on mine. I siwthced the top plate over like others mentioned. The plate is a hard part so age has no effect on it or to the function of the carb otherwise. It allows you to keep your current air-filter

I just looked closely at the original picture. This appears to be an aftermarket air filter and NOT the manila colored OEM filter. This may also cause a too lean condition as the saw and carburation was designed with the restriction from the correct OEM filter in mind. See if you can put an OEM fleece filter on it and see how it runs.

Well i would hope its an oem filter. I know the lady i got it from and she had just spent little over $250 at the stihl dealer to get it going then decided it was too big for her. I think they screwed her over. Ther sold her a new bar an chain which it did not need. I got old one back on as it perfectly fine. And new filter, plug, and suposedly running and ready to go. I would have been pissed if i paid that money and saw wouldnt run.

I try to never assume anything! Here is what the Stihl OEM filter should look like:

You can check your existing filter for the Stihl logo and/or xxxx-xx-xxxx part numbers molded into the filter halves

One other thing to check is to make sure that the spark screen is still in the muffler. It should be under the screw on the front of muffler cover. If it has been removed it will also cause a lean condition as it reduces back pressure somewhat.

Fixed jet saws are a PITA! They are designed to run only one way from the factory. Change anything in the intake or exhaust from what came from the factory and you are asking for trouble!

Heres the exact rpm. A little higher them it should. Do you guys think it will hert it to run like that. Cant afford a new carb till after xmas. If ya think it will hert it ill just put it away till i get new carb in new year.

From what i can tell ther is no mods to saw and check it for air leaks and all good.

What would a part number be for that walbro carb wt-194 i called a local dealer to get a price but nothing came up when he punched in the wt-194 he said might be other numbers on the carb with it ill need.

Google is your friend! Just make sure that you get a genuine Walbo carb and NOT a Chinese clone!

So how did you check it for air/vacuum leaks? The normal culprits are the impulse hose and both crank seals.

BTW, Missing spark screen and AM air filter are considered "mods" for a fixed jet saw.

Why don't you go out and run it hard in cold temperatures and get back to us?

Dont have vacume tester but i blocked exhaust port and intake with peace of rubber inertube from bike tire. Then put a few psi through the plug hole.

That's a factory winter filter as is on many saws sold in Canada. I DOUBT THE Saw has an air leak. Many of the fixed jet saws ran like this out of the box and stihl quickly went back to adjustable carbs.

Many saws will hold pressure just fine, but will leak under vaccum. Take a propane torch and run it unlit around likely leak locations. If you have a peak the engine will let you know it. This works well for trouble shooting airleaks.
That said I doubt you have an airleak.

Do you think it will hurt to run it a couple hundred rpm like it is. It does not have a spark screen in it. Will make one if ya think it will drop rpm a bit.

No, I dont. But I would keep an eye on it.
A fleece filter and screen might bring the rpms dowm, but it might not.

Fwiw, run mine between 14600 and 14800. I have deleted the base gasket and muffler modded it though.
Seizure is caused by heat. The muffler mod will likely add some additional cooling assuming that the mixture has been compensated which also lowers temperatures due to evaporative cooling.

A fleece filter and screen might bring the rpms down, but it might not.
In my experience with these smaller saws the screen does make a noticeable difference in running behavior. This coupled with the less restrictive mesh filter probably accounts for the higher RPMs.

Screens are cheap. I would put one in until the carb is replaced.
