Used my sooteater today for the first time this year, I don't remember the last time I swept maybe last February, so it's been a while.

I added some extra weedwacker string.

I use a piece of plywood with a whole and have one of my kids hold it while I sweep, keeps all the soot inside the stove, no soot at all in my house.

Nice amount of very fine stuff.

Fits and works fine.

Looks like 1 gasket with an indentation in the middle. That's a lot of **** in that stove.

looks like 3 individual ropes to me...never seen a door gasket that wide before...

I believe the gasket was made in a factory, probably a gasket factory or maybe a fiberglass products factory. What do you mean by three rows over the top.

I meant it looks like 3 separate ropes..."over the top" as in ridiculously big for a little stove door...
biggest ive see is like 3/4" diameter rope, your look like its 2" wide?

You need to get out more....

That size is fairly common on flat face stoves with flat mate doors.

They use it cus theres nor room to crush/compress the gasket in the design, it provides more surface area for sealing.

Not me. ..... my BK had a huge round gasket with a knife edge from the stove body right centered on it.

Next gasket I buy I'll do a little more investigating.

my neighbor had to do the same thing for his stove door. it appears the original gasket was wide and flat, and he could not find a replacement, so he doubled up on the rope.

if it works....why not?
