I guess I would be unhappy that is the question that is asked here.
$400 labor
$70 parts
$130 shipping
The saw had "the crank bearings locked up" so it seems the parts were bearings and a rebuild kit whatever that is. $400 for labor most of it likely modifying a cylinder that had the lower end seize up? Am I getting confused here?

What is the chance a carburetor can be damaged shipping in a high airplane un pressurized.
The problem here may not really be porting.
I read de limber that runs over and pneumonia. Heavy equipment repairs and medical stuff sound like an order of magnitude different in $. What does a chest x ray cost and then how much to have it looked at. What recourse does someone have with poor workmanship on the medical front? You have to promise to pay the bill for that stuff but they do not have to say what they intend on charging. Even after paying they won't give me a receipt say it might be re coded. At last that is the way has been for me.

I paid for the work done, it was ported a while back, that's not the issue.

I bought a complete rebuild kit from Baileys. Lower end, piston, cylinder, etc.

I had planned on just rebuilding it, but decided after I tore it apart to have it ported. The crank bearing races had come apart and jammed up the balls. Saw had lots of use so wasn't a surprise.

Yes, I was in the hospital for a week, came close to dying from pnemonia. Had a collasped right lung and left was collapsing too. They drained 2 liters of liquid from my chest and I had 2 chest tubes for a week. Minimal cost to me, I am a disabled veteran so it was handled by the VA.

It probably wasn't a good carb to begin with.

One question you don't hear anyone ask is whether or not the person they are considering has test logs to test builds before sending them back. Some dealers who "hop up saws professionally" don't even have logs for testing. They just free rev tune and send it on its way.

Saw was cutting wood when the bottom end locked up, carb seemed fine.

It's probably an easy fix but the "that sucks for you" I got from the builder is my beef, not a $25 carb.
Have a small engine shop where I work too, just amounts to my costing costing labor to fix.

I would never dream of rebuilding a box of old parts into a saw for anyone other than me.

Was a box of clean parts from the one saw. I put everything through the parts washer and also hand cleaned.

How is it that OP seems to have so many issues and bum transactions? It seems like some sort of gripe comes up every few months for VF. ??????

Negative, you must be thinking of someone else. I haven't even bought or sold on here in a year or so.

Sounds like chainsaws would/should be kinda low on your priority list.

Gas here is non ethanol so we don't have troubles like L48.

May have been from shipping (maybe), but to tell a customer "that sucks" is not smart. I mean it killed business from me sending another.

The crazy thing is I had no idea. My breathing was fine.
I was at work and out of the blue enormous pain in my right side and I could barely inhale because of the pain. Went to ER and was in the operating room soon after.

The doc said I must be part caveman cause a normal person would have been dead well before.

omg. well, be careful! maintaining good health is job #1 for me. clearly... it is my most valuable asset!! :)

for most, under 40: still invincible!!

over 50: omg, those creaks and groans...

over 60: suddenly, those "i wont need any meds!" seem to be false assumptions... and 'one's family Dr'... is fast becoming a friend! and another close companion, but hardly a friend is: pain!

approaching 70 and over: a real slap in the face regarding mortality and the reality of life itself... omg, its downhill now! ;)

if you are 40 or under... enjoy it!!

if you are 60 or older... you know what I mean!! :rolleyes:uch!

in the meantime... :chainsaw: and :chop:

I'm 33, but my back is in rough shape, docs say artrithus equal to someone that is 70.

The pnemonia was scary. Had I been working out in the woods instead of the shop not sure how that would have worked out. Was darn scary not being able to breathe.

It wasn't "asma attack" but near passing out pain on a small inhale.

Not sure what set it off. I hopped in the skid steer to move a dumpster and it set off. Was tough getting out.

Was tough to explain at the ER, one word at a time with breaths.

VF - you paint a scary picture! omg... thanks for post. not about porting, but sure can make one think!

I'm very tempted to send it back to Tennessee at this point. Saw was put on the bench before I got sick. Was at the shop Sunday to get some parts for my ZTR mower and found a huge mess of bar oil.

The case isn't sealed and it drained the whole tank. Leaking from the seam.
