Good stuff Bob . My Dad is 90 , and still cutting with me . He runs his old Homey 360 pro , but I usually set him up with my 346 . He's unbelievable .
I will bring him down to meet you , one day soon . Unfortunately , I have to work saturday , or we could come to your gtg .

90, huh? That means my buddy has at least 4 more years to go.

Too bad the two of you can't come down Saturday.

I had the pleasure to meet and talk to this man for a long time. Couple things I'd mention, first...he makes me miss my grandpa, they don't make them like that anymore, he is a riot, only cause what he says he means, all honesty....... like grandpa. Third, this old guy WORKS, talked to him a while about his firewood business, he fills some orders, probably doing 100+ cord a year, not too shabby for 87, he did correct me on his age its 87. Loves his new Jonsered, still likes his 2171 but in love with his new 2253. Fourth, if he was my age I surely wouldn't have wanted to mess with him in a rumble, tough old guy, they don't build him like that anymore. I always make time to talk to WWII vets, if it wasn't for them we'd not be here, or speaking german. This old guy is definitely a gem, Thanks for having him Bob. Did I mention he reminded me of my Gramps? They would have made great friends!

I overheard some of your conversation with him and was equally impressed with his "outlook". They definitely don't make 'em like him anymore.

And I purposely didn't tell him he had sauce on his cheek because I didn't want to upset him! :msp_scared:

He is smart, he has built up a relationship with his supplier so they hand pick logs for him. This way he is not processing logs too large for him. This guy was very impressive, young or old, doesn't let anything slow him down or dictate how he is going to live his life. Very cool, very fun to talk with.

This is a very touching thread. I hope that I am able to do this in the near future.
However,,, I have a question on the 2253. Is this saw happy running a 3/8 chain?
Granted it is on a 16 bar. Wouldn't the saw be a bit happier running a 325? Ken

My new background for the day.

We should all fell lucky to live half the life he does. Real men still exist. Great post! Make sure you pick his brain for some tips. If you pay attention you'll learn something.

Somebody get that guy a muffler mod :msp_wink:. Best gift you could ever give him.

Being an old "Fart" doesn't have to curb your get up & go ( if health allows ) I'm 80 in a couple of weeks time & still service saws & other tasks, for a money earning logging company. I admit I'm slowed down, but so long as that's understood, or you are doing it for yourself, it should not be a problem, even with as I have one of them small computers in your chest giving a spark to the old "ticker " as & when required, if you can & want to do something do it "cause tomorrow or the day after you may not be able to. As my dad use to say when passing the church grave yard, there's a good few in there that would be very willing to swap places with you. Nice to see the league of old 'uns enjoying their time a not cooped up in an old folks home

Least it's promising. My friend's Dad is "only" 77 and he is in diapers and some days I'm not sure he even knows his name (though other days he can rattle off part numbers and shelf locations for stuff that's been there for probably 25 years). He does the "poor pitiful me" b/s too which we mostly ignore. He worked as a logger most his life aside from some years as a farmer and soldier.

Our mechanic is 70 something are he can almost out work me, I'm about 1/2 his age. Granted I'm still not 100% from when I nearly died this spring (lung infection/kidney & liver failure) but still.
Though I've had 2 kids work for me, I fired them. Pretty bad when I could easily out work them 2x over with a bad back and bas allergies/asma.
Too used to playing "get fat on the couch while playing Warrior Craft and Caller of Duty"

Awesome to see him getting a workout and get paid for it. Seems to keep him motivated as well. Good to see stuff like this.
