I had the thought; why couldn't the industry make more universal bar patterns. It might take 3 or 4 families, but it looks like it could be done. There would be several ways that adapters could be designed for the bar stud diameter part of it. The oil pick up holes could be elongated perpendicular to the bar length and thereby be adaptable to more situations. Then, the adjusting dog holes would not have to be round they could also be elongated in a direction perpendicular to the bar length.

I have seen several types of the bar stud adapters
over the years. The machined style could be stamped and therefore mass produced. I have seen the ring type that you drive onto the stud with a deep socket. And, of course, the S shaped type.

You can make the Stihl pattern bars fit about any of the larger saws with alittle mill work. If I can do it in my shop in a few minutes the bar makers could mss produce same very economically.

HI Tony
I know that most Dolmar,Husqvarna,Jonsered and Poulan pro bar mount patterns are all interchangeable. not sure about Solo? Stihl is the only big
company that will not change and thats not supriseing coming for Stihl and thats fuct up, all pro saws should have the same bar mount patterns and oil hole alinement. Seth

Tony, I got your email and I do not have a picture of the new 694 Solo. Ask Jeff Sikkema, seesaw or maybe Dagger?

Protection of your share of the market. Interchangeabilty of components would be wonderful for the consumer; not only in saw components but just think automotive. In industrial motors, bearings etc. there is much standardization. The big boys know what is good for them, but remember we are SUPPOSED to be consumers. Who told you life was fair. Lol.
