I posted this in the guns and ammo, but thought might get a bit more traffic over here.
I have a ms271 for sale/trade locally. And I have a offer to trade for a buck mark camper.

Is it a fair trade or lopsided?

The 271 is almost new. And I haven't seen the pistol yet, looks ok but only has one mag.

Looking up the pistol on gunbroker and seeing the used prices it looks fair. Even with the saw condition it's a farm and ranch model and there's so many for cheap. In my opinion handguns hold value better and longer because of politics and such so it'd probably be a good trade....only if you want the gun. If anything ask for serial number and contact local agency and ask if they can check it for stolen

agreed.....

We had a local store that ran a special on MS271's on father's day for $399 brand new with case and 6 bottles of oil.... makes it tough to sell even a nice used one for more than $275-$300 max...

as Lonestar said, check it out properly, and make the gun owner pay all the fees required for a transfer in Illinois, at a local gun shop to you.

I've owned several of that model buckmarks. They will shoot hole for hole with a thousand dollar model 41 smith target.
Good deal, value only go's up on guns (unless it's an AR 15 which are ridiculously cheap right now).

As others have mentioned, go with the gun if it checks out okay. Just by looking at the magazine, it looks well used. Closely inspect the gun itself before you close a deal.

I thought the same thing. Not much finish left on it. I will check it out closely before I commit to a deal. Especially since a new one with three mags can be had for around $300-350.

See what happens.

Then see if you would take that amount in cash for the saw. In a month, the saw would sell on E-Bay for $400ish.

Sounds like you should pass on the gun.

How much is the gun worth in cash?

It depends on who wants to buy it. If you sold it to a licensed dealer, you would be damn lucky to see $250.00 or so. Probably less.

Sale to a private individual? Depending on condition, the high side would be $300.00 I would think.

If you are a convicted felon, desperately in need of a handgun, I could see an easy $500.00 or more. ;)

I've shot many Buckmarks over the years and I still own one. They are kinda picky on ammo and in my opinion not very reliable. If you do a Google search on misfires on the Buckmark you will find I'm not the only one to experience this.

is this under... google hillery clinton hates browning guns ? i think she dis-likes all guns ;) most browning products are all very good like all mine and the buck marks I have owned have all been stellar performers

I'm not going to argue. But I have yet to find a Buckmark that will perform stellar with a variety of different ammo. This isn't uncommon with semi auto pistols or rifles just some are better then others. I find the Buckmark more sensitive to certain ammunition. And yes I like Browning just not a Buckmark fanboy.

In 5 years what will the Buckmark be worth compared to the saw? In 5 years will you have to rebuild the Buckmark as opposed to the saw? I shot competition .22 for years, hard to hurt a .22 unless you try.
