My Stihl manual says to use either a Bosch WSR 6 F OR a resistor - type NGK BPMR 7 A. When would I need to use a resistor type of a plug? Is one superior to the other? Can someone jump in here and help set me straight?

Thanks.

Depends on who wants to know, and why.
Thank you everyone for your opinions. But, my question was is there a benefit of using a resistor type of plug over a non-resistor plug.

In a chainsaw or any O P E, no benefit to using a resistor plug.

Unless of course, you may have some kind of a high-end stereo mounted to it.
