I must say...finding SP's and PM's around here is rare. Not big CounterVibe kind of rare, but close. I know there was a strong presence of McCulloch in the Kootenays. Not a lot made it the relatively short distance here it seems. I guess it was all the big timber those 850's and 80's were chowing down on in the 70's and 80's that kept them from straying too far.

Pretty sure the fellow I picked this up off of a few years ago said it first saw action out in Fernie. Ended up in the lower mainland and then here. Set up just right for the cold weather. Posted these before, but what the heck.

Used 3/8" sst tubing drilled to 0.315"
Turned to .370" parted off 0.175"

After all that work did they end up lookin' like this? LOL As Tim mentioned, the spring solution is cheap and easy and a good one if ya don't happen to have a lathe handy.

Spend the morning falling trees but nothing MAC worthy. After lunch I was asked to buck up some more big stuff that has accumulated at the woodlot, so I thought it a good opportunity to see how the PM800 with the .404 33" MAC bar would do fully buried. Though the chain was really dull despite my feeble attempts to file it, not only could you bury the bar you could lean on it (actually had to - the chain was so dull). Anyways I replaced the bar with a 25" Stihl. Forgot that I hadn't replaced the four drive links of my .404 semi-chisel that the PM800 destroyed last time when the sprocket exploded so I had to go to Plan B, and use the square skip chain I had for my 101B. Boy, I thought an 800 with a 20" .375 bar with an eight pin was fun - a 800 with a 25" .404 skip square with a seven pin was over the top fun. I haven't figured out how to take pictures and run a saw at the same time so these stills will have to do:

Maybe it is just me, but I think the 800 is getting stronger with every tank I run through it.

SP60 is a nice 60 cc saw, SP60 outfitted with the cold weather kit is over the top.

The duct directs warm air over the muffler to the air box. There is a valve or gate in the duct you can adjust when you don't need warm air.

Back a couple of posts, the snubber keeps the choke rod engaged in the lever on the carburetor.

Sounds like you had some fun. Sorry I missed. I wished I could have joined you but had to be at a funeral. I should be there next Saturday if everyone is cutting.

Went to fire up the CP70L and it locked up. Oh no I thought this is bad....... Removed starter, flywheel and coil hard together! Removed the mice mouse rear bolt repair someone had cobbled on. They used a piece of 1/4"all thread that appears to be tapped into the casting patched with plastic metal of some sort!
Question, is there a good strong epoxy available these days? Would like to try that first say epoxy a tapped bushing in the correct location then use a proper style 'bolt' that clamps coil and provides the standoff for starter cover. Kinda frustrated in a way but on the other hand allows more playing with an old saw to affect a repair. Will keep all my fellow SAWNUTS posted haha
