I had to look that up. The difference is the English were trying to save their jobs. A job was the last thing these creeps wanted. I'm willing to give anyone a second chance but these guys had multiple previous convictions. The R.I. Adult Corrections Institution seems to have had a revolving door installed. What's sad is the fed govt actually replaced the bronze plaques with some sort of Pot metal. New age theft deterant. Quite the word we live in.

$40/month for $30 grands in damage equals 750 months equals 62 and a half years... not counting inflation.
Lately I find myself appreciating more and more the wisdom behind laws such as the Frame-Breaking Act.

I'm sure the scrap yard returned the monuments and didn't process them as scrap. When the boom of recycling hit my area dirtbags would take anything made of metal into the yard..rail track, manhole covers, grave markers and new catalytic converters by the ton. Scrap yards face criminal prosecution and take it very serious!

It seems more are concerned about my spelling then the break in.

Maybe so, but as for myself, I'd be more concerned about the house escaping!!!! :cold::crazy2::cold:

At least I found the hole before the house got out. I patched the hole so now, who ever did it knows that I know someone cut there way in.

They returned them for evidence. After being pryed off the markers they were mangled so badly their only value was in scrap. Hence the replacement markers of low value. The Church gave them back to the scrapper for reimbursement after the trial because he was out the $800 he paid the thieves so he could see their IDs. I thought his laying out the cash to help catch them went above and beyond. He was very appreciative of the bronze when he got it from my wife. Too bad the value had dropped after the theft, but before the trial.

I had a guy 4 days out of the state pen job in a scrap barrel and take some very unique items. There are signs all over with no trespassing, etc. Very good local cop went to the two biggest scrap yards and had the guy on video. Items were easily identifiable and he was charged with felony theft and his probation revoked. Because of his priors he did a couple years. I would hated to see the slap on the wrist if he hadn't had a record.

We once had some guys throw a brick through the front window of a store and they grabbed a bunch of really nice snowmobiling gear and helmets. Got the car on camera and they were caught. At sentencing the judge refused to have them pay restitution because "they'll never pay". They both did less than 30 days where they could have been sentenced to multiple years in prison. We have some terrible judges that will throw the book at someone who has a bag of weed but let crim sex and thieves go with wrist slaps.

No one cut my fence last week, but it appears a bullet may have passed over it taking down one of my best cows.
I've been in the cow business all my life, and never seen an animal die of natural causes in this position. Right foreleg under her torso, hind legs split out, and lying flat on her belly. Appears to be a heart shot from elevated terrain entering at right and exiting the left brisket, blowing out the left foreleg. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. Bad day at the ranch.jpg

What a waste...I hope you catch the guy who did that...then feed him his teeth.

I’m trying to understand why someone would do that. Idiot.

Sad.
How does anyone mistake that for a deer?
The position reminds me of a spine shot I had on a deer years ago. Dropped in the spot, no jump. I would think a heart shot would at least have the cow move a little before dying but then again, I never saw a cow die from a gunshot.

The problem today, in my opinion, is that judges have forgotten 2 things. 1st is the victim. If someone wrongs me, gets no punishment, and I take things into my own hands, I think the court forced me into it. Unfortunately, the court doesn't see it that way. 2nd is prison and restitution is not only punishment. It's also a deterrent to the next criminal thinking of acting badly. No deterrent means continued crime.

You can bet a farm out west it was no accident. Just a jerk with no respect for animals, people, hard work or personal property.

I am sorry for your loss @Sagetown. That is not cool.
Not cool at all. I'm a firm believer in what goes around, comes around. That ole boy will eventually come up on the short end of the stick one way or another.
It's been extra dry here lately, but I prepared to burn her where she lay. Then a chance of rain was coming up so I covered her, and sure enough it came a nice rain the same night I staked a tarp over her. Next morning in misty rain all went well.

You are correct, Karma is usually a cold ....

After his retirement, one of the wardens up here wrote a book about his work experiences One story told about how he was riding solo and ended up in a serious snowmobile accident. A person pulled up who he recognized but when this person realized it was the warden laying on the ice, he drove away. The warden was able to regain the strength to get his sled going and limped home.

A few years later the man (who left the warden for dead out on the ice) died...in a snowmobile accident.

That beyond Sucks, unfortunately there is no understanding the things some people will do.

Hopefully, in the end, we know it wont be Saint Peter, but Hopefully Satan will hand the SOB, the dirty end of the plunger.

Why didn't you process it for food?

My guess is it was found too late.

Was thinking maybe that, though for dogs? Mushers around here feed horses, moose, fish, etc to their dogs. I'd guess if it was the middle of summer it'd be pretty rotten after several days, but in the winter it isn't an issue. They cut up the froze animal with a saw and give chunks to the dogs. I'm not up to speed on mushing dog diets, but I get the impression that they aren't overly fussy eaters.

Burning the cow just was odd to me, can't say I've ever see something like that before.
