Long time reader, first time poster.... Men, thank you in advance. Someone gave me a Husky 55 rancher that was missing parts and didnt run. I have replaced everything except for crank, crank case, crank seal and flywheel. Had very little compression until I replaced crankshaft seals, now compression is very stout. When I try to crank it, I feel like I'm pull starting a 600lb fat chick at an " All you can eat buffet". The problem seems to be that it floods instantly. Rebuilt the original carb and bought an aftermarket Zama carb with all the same outcomes. Throttle screw has to be screwed all the way in to crank. Impulse tube, carb boot , everything is new. Please help

I have never tried that, but wow it sounds especially hard. You have experience?

Your problem is pretty standard with similar saws. Many many thread with the same symptoms. Rule of thumb is to turn H L all the way in with maybe 1/4 turn out or less. See what happens. Your saw could be flooded. If you flooded your saw with two different carburetors then you have some thing that almost does not occur. You need to run the thing in increments so to isolate your issues. Your crank case needs to be clean and dry to start with so your fat chick feels like she just went on a starvation diet. Under extreme situations just squirt a small amount of fuel into carburetor and let it run for 5 seconds which is all that it will run because carb is turned off. Then progress from there and see what you discover. Thanks

I'm sorry it took so long to get bk to you. I had a series of unfortunate life changing events. I'm coming to think the underlying problem may be a damaged keyway. Idk how much damage is required to cause starting problems
