I'm downstairs working on getting the 710 cleaned up, waiting for the parts to come. I've got both sides of the block pretty clean with Brakeclean. It leaves that whitish residue. Couple years ago someone said try Super Clean in the purple jug, that it cleaned aluminum well. Then before I tried it I read it would eat aluminum. I'm not restoring the saw, so it's probably clean enough. But, if a soak in Super Clean would make it look better, I'm not doing anything else. Any opinions on Super Clean?

Super Clean works good just don’t leave the parts soaking in it and you want to keep it off the chrome in the cylinder. I typically use Simple Green for most parts cleaning but if it’s really greasy I’ll resort to the super clean.

What followed me home today.

I think all it's missing is the pull handle and log dogs.

Some of that big red stuff looks like it could use some soap and water, if you want to send it up, I’ll give them a bath for you. You just have to understand I have to wash them out side with cold water, and knowing how the cold water “Shrinkage Effect“ works, they may come back looking like Super EZ’s.

North East Tennessee Saturday MAC Report

Happy New Year!

Glad to have 2020 behind me. Due to aliments and other commitments, Blind Squirrel Falling didn't end the calendar year with much activity. Thank goodness we operate on a late September - April cycle.

I had planned to bring in the New Year with a MAC in hand yesterday, but I sat out the rain instead. I ran a Super Splitter at the woodlot this morning since I have no cutting assignments. The ministry has delivered over 800 loads so far despite the mild weather. At that rate, it won't be long and they'll be needing wood - so maybe Brian, Lee and I will be back in business soon.

After lunch, I got the old 800 out and fell a few trees - mostly just trash for the burn pile except for one cherry and a red oak. Falling with the 800 never gets old. Bucking gets tiring at times, but falling never.

Nice little cherry. Had to cut the hinge after it hung in another tree (T'was either the tree or the house. I picked the tree).

Red Oak. Though a good 150' away, it rattled the living room furniture when it hit the ground per my wife.

Nice little pile of wood for next year's firewood.

Two nice red oak logs for the sawmill, butt end 16' and next section 18'.

Be safe.

No some old Navy stories.

He came down here with navy. I'm sure he said 50s too. He's pretty long in the tooth yet sounds like a young guys voice on the fone. I spent 20 bucks chatting to him haha and never ended up buying anything. Until now but Ed sorted that for me. Thank you Ed

US navy ships are not aloud here since the 80s. Pretty stupid but anyway

Nice to see you dropping trees with that yellow monster. I'm glad but why not the new wiz bang off brand?

MAC is "more fun". I did use the off-brand to brush out the cherry and cut off the stump. It will need a wrap handle before it will see much falling.

Ron

Ahh was wondering if it was the handle issue. I don't like a half eather once you use a full. Exactly why the 81 has a wrap coming from the other side of world. 850 is still half but ahh ill have two "felling" saws.

Pulled out the 800 the last tree and went wow thats easier

I am still working on getting the NOS parts moved, identified, organized, and put away. I started with the 17000 part numbers and am currently working with the 216000, then I found three more bins of 17000-19000...

I am really trying to get an accurate count, part numbers cross referenced where possible (McCulloch changed/updated their numbers several times), and locations recorded correctly so I can find things in the future. The Excel spread sheet is currently up to 33 pages, I may be about 1/2 done.

I need a bit of help.I finally put the carb back on my 5-10 yesterday & I'm having a helluva time with the needle extensions going back in.Do I have to pull the carb again & have 3 pairs of hands to get it all in place again?I'm thinking of just plugging the holes & adjusting the carb like the early 10-10s.

Is that the older setup or the rubber boot like a 700?
