Agree. Use a vice as your 3rd hand. The springs are a task. Ive done a few. They arent easy. The metal part has to be in the spring and in its place before the spring can be put over its shoe tabs. I used a vice and screwdrivers and hooks and pliers and lots of anything and everything. Might have said a few choice words under my breath. If you need help send it to me ill do it for you.
I'm afraid that once I take it out to the garage the springs & guides will go flying & get lost & that'll be the end of that project.I've got 2 to put together, one has no guides in it,so gotta take it apart first. Then I've got another clutch that just needs a new pawl spring.
I still gotta be careful with my neck too.

I will look when I get a chance
Now I have a bit of a dilemma. The PM320,along with a couple of the 310s I have are missing the throttle lock assembly. The IPLs don't even have them listed as a replaceable part<I guess Mac thought the carb covers were going to last forever & therefore wouldn't need to be replaced.Boy,were they ever wrong! I've searched Feebay & couldn't find a thing, same with chainsawr. If anyone has any of these laying around unused I'd gladly buy them from you.
I had two 310’s out there. Totally different set ups. The black one is cracked but a fairly clean crack that could maybe be repaired.
then there is a yellow one that more of a box than just a cover. Either of these be of any help at all?

Bob,I can't use the yellow box,but I can use the choke rod in it.I can also use both of the throttle locks on the right.Unfortunately once those covers have cracked there's no fixing them. The plastic gets brittle & it'll just re-crack in another spot.I'm better off getting a new carb cover from Mark.
I'd also be interested in the air filter bracket that goes with the yellow one.Be careful when you take the carb mounting screws out as there are 2 small flat washers (thick) & a wave washer under the choke plate.Send me a PM to let me know how much you want for everything & I'll give you my shipping address. Thanks!

On eBay a set of these super thin wrenches are about 25$ not sure if this helps guys. Don't mind the red 88cc saw 😉
I ended up picking up a Stihl wrench that was identical in appearence that fit perfectly. I like the old Stihls as well so I figured Id use it no matter what but thats very clever. Now I just need the damn starter cup. Mines worn out.

Another damn near non existent part it seems are the curved mufflers they put on some early and newer 10-10'S, 55's and some others. The flat ones are too restrictive having to bend 90 degree's and over time it blew a hole right through the bottom. As a disclosure I'm new to the 10-10's, trying to learn a lot of the data seems to contradict it's self. But I DO see why they are so popular. I tend to stick with late 50's to late 60's saws. We don't have a large selection to choose from in Western PA.

Take a dremel and cut new grooves in the cup. Did that on pl4s and today on the super 660. Works great. If you can see the old lines it makes it easy of not try and measure then out equally. I don't have much repair knowledge but I did good with that. My knowledge is basically limited to carb rebuilds currently and just rebuilt the carb on 660 and a pl5 today

Have a 38cc Mac cat my dad got for hurricane Charley, dug it up a few weeks ago, redid fuel lines, carb, oil pump.bought a smaller bar and chain kit of Amazon, bar fit but chain was too loose. Any know where to get a 14in bar and chain for these things.

First post by the way so maybe in wrong category

Welcome. You are at the right place. What pitch is the chain 1/4” or 3/8”.

Leeha’s inventory of MACs has changed considerably since the 2008 post you quoted. He now has enough cc to pull a freight train.

Ok I’ll try to get it on the bench soon and sort out what you need. Shop is in disarray at the moment from butchering day but I hope to get things back to normal soon!

One of these? Mine has an 18" bar.
They are notorious for the oil line being broken (or missing).
