I'm mostly finished with my home made log splitter, or at least enough I could try it out. I still need to tidy up some stuff, I'm going to grab some broken firehose from work to protect the hydraulic lines and to secure them, so they are rubbing on metal parts. I'm also going to make a table for it at some point, but I want to use it first, just to give me a better idea of what I want for that. I'm also going to build an axle at some point, this one is out of a harbor freight trailer and is arched under the weight of this thing, even after I boxed in the axle.

I bought the Predator motor, the jack, the pump mount, and the Coors sticker, everything else was repurposed and/or built.

That looks really good bro!
I'm not a beer guy, but even the Coors sticker looks like it belongs there.... 👍

Nice Job, she's looking good, now go tear it up 😆.
About shooting up there in Colorado; my dad shot for the navy team(I guess), when he was at a competition up there he had the door of his motel room open, in walked our new Irish setter, we named him Rockie lol.
I can't see shooting that beast on a normal skeet field, bit I bet you were consistent, and probably sore after a weekend of that .

Well the last 4 times I used the 8/10 yr. MS 291 I smelled gas while cutting some firewood. I thought it was coming from the exhaust but it ran like a scalded dog and I found it was leaking out of the tank cap.The cap was turning past the lock and leaking. Got a new cap today for $10,cleaned the gunk under the shields, blow out the air filter, and cleaned the bar and chain and now it's ready to cut again. I'll file the chain but it won't take long cause it was cutting scary fast in the green white and the old red oak the last 5 times I used, I've not put the file on the chain in about a year!
A yr 😳.
Glad you got your leak fixed, that can be real irritating.

Scrounged more of the white oak today, I cut the tree off where it branched out. Then I skidded the branches with the SxS to the ditch and bucked them up. Loaded 10 rounds in the SxS. Then came back with the Ram for the last 12 rounds.
When Kodiak Kid asked "Is that good firewood?" I looked at the quoted text... That really threw me as after the shotgun discussions today I was trying to figure out how he loaded 10 rounds in a Side by Side shotgun. 😉

Yes! Stainless on black is very sexy on a hunting rifle!👍

Yeah, you should see it on my .17 😬.
Pretty sure that won't work on a wheeled unit 🤣.

You might want to check out a tree spade. It is dandy on a small tractor.
My buddy has one for his skid, I think it probably weighs 800lbs, it's a beast.
This was a stump from a cherry tree I cut down probably 8yrs ago, every now and then I'd give it a good push to see if it would budge, well that day it did, so I spent 10-15 mins getting it out. Now it's hogging my bonfire pit lol.

Maybe it was a double barreled pump shotgun.
My favorite double barrel song :guitar:.

Thanks, I got the idea when my old man thought the oil tank looked like a beer can. I was betting that someone on the internet made a Coors decal, and sure enough I found one in about 30 seconds of searching lol.

Almost too pretty to use lol, I'm going to get a canvas cover for it, so it doesn't just sit out in the elements.

That's pretty cool that your dad was on the Navy team. The USA Shooting facility in Colorado springs is a pretty cool venue, there's worse places to shoot at lol.

I wasn't much of a skeet shooter, mostly trap and sporting clays after that. Each discipline is too different to be really good at all of them. So I tried to be great at trap, pretty good at sporting clays, and semi-competent at skeet. I nearly medaled at international trap at the state level one year(collegiate,) so I got an invite to Colorado Springs for that. I had enough local sponsors that it was a free trip for me, so fun times for sure.

I also got at invite for the international skeet event there, but only on a technicality...we didn't have a state championship for that event, so it was an automatic invite if you asked...I think I was 2nd to last at the international skeet event. That was actually the first I shot that variation of skeet, I must have looked like a complete moron to the guys on the US olympic team lol. I even failed to get a shot off on the #8 station my first time.🤣

The Citori is actually a sweetheart to shoot, between the weight and the shock in the stock, it's easy on the shoulder. It's ported as well, almost as gentle as shooting the gas Beretta. The only way it beat me up at Colorado Springs was I kept getting my neck pinched in comb(the comb moves with the recoil shock.) Looked like I had a hickey, everyone thought I was getting freaky with some chick after hours.

Sorry for the long story, just some fun memories...I still have all my guns(except for the scary black ones that were lost in a boating accident,) but don't really shoot anymore.

Picked up some new toys tonight. Had a few mins to burn last night so I went into the pawn shop ant they had a Poulan 4200 counter vibe that caught my eye. Price was $240 so I walked out but it was on my mind so I decided to go back and talk to them.

They also had a Husky 365sp that looked like a real basket case and they had it marked as a 445 and priced at $220. I told them I’d buy the poulan if they threw in the husky, and ended up giving them $300 for the both of them.

Husky feels low on compression. I did pop the muffler off and it has slight scarring in the right side of the piston, but but much. It did fire up in a couple pulls, and after looking it over it’s not as bad as I initially thought.

I didn’t have any gas to put in the poulan, but it feels like it has great compression. Didn’t really need it but I didn’t really wanna see some tweaker buy it and trash it.

Log splitter back for the "fix it" shop. This is the one thagt would only run on almost full choke. He cleaned the carb. Found fine wood chips in the bowl and one very small sliver that had somehow worked its way into the needle. Sounds to me like there isn't any filter in the tank. I'll be more careful on adding fuel.

The manual splitting did me a world of good so I may continue that for the easy spitting stuff (willow, locust, maple).

I had to buy a new 8lb sledge hammer. The old, only a few years of use, had big chips off both faces and a split going down towards the eye. New one is a new design to me. One face is shorter than the other but bigger around. A bit of use and I love it!!

After having similar issues with my splitter I installed an inline filter. I also added a shut off valve to make changing it less messy and to be able to drain the carb when I put it up for the summer.
