Should I stop burning this black locust you think 😜.
Down to 10 here now, they say it's dropping to 7 tonight. Supposed to get up to 25 tomorrow. Hope to drop 6 cherry tomorrow, had hoped to do it Tuesday, but the guy never responded when I called, but I got the call to go ahead tomorrow :chainsaw:.

I had to walk to the bus stop. We lived on a road that backed up to big farms. Our lots were 2 to 5 acres, so I probably walked, maybe a 1/4 mile. For my kids, the bus parked on my court, so my kids had to walk from the front door to the bus. Maybe 150 feet. They had the longest walk of any kid in the neighborhood. All the mom's drove the kids to our court and jammed my drive way up so I couldn't leave till they all left. Some of the kids had it real rough, their mom's had Suburban's and they had to walk 4 feet farther than the mom's in Tahoe's.
these days the Mom's have to... someone mite snatch their kid...

Some wood related stuff from our day.

We went through a bunch of cedar, and cut all the low grade stuff to 53" long for cants.

We cut that stack in about 4 hours.
4.25" x anything from 1" to 12"

They will be sold to a local mill that makes the 1/4" t&g closet liner material they sell at Home Depot, Lowes, etc.

huh! imagine that, i always wondered where they got the cedar liners.... 👍

i milled up some cedar yesterday, too! my yard is like a pine kindling killing field from recent storms passing... yesterday's campfire was slow to come around. cold flames! so i amped it up with some cedar kindling. best kindling, imo. makes a nice hot heat center and the pine kindling goes off like a match! i jury rigged me a temp kindling block and made some yesterday.

What do you guys feel is more profitable? Selling lumber or firewood?
...getting free checks in the mail and, of course... cow:envy:money!

but sometimes they don't bring in as much as others. not sure if it is the current price per hundred wgt... or just their size :popcorn2:

Profit? what's that?

Last year when lumber prices were all Brandon-ized, we sold a lot of lumber for a decent price.
In theory lumber should be more profitable, but it depends on what people want in your area.
i'll prob get a free BC vacation, but couldn't resist... since seems to me... a wooden headed dummy is in line with and other stuff for a wood thread! 🤩

I never saved money reloading because I shot a lot. It’s been 49 years since I started reloading metallic and maybe 10-12 since I started shot shells. My sons were worn out before the ammo ran out… figure a good 1,500 lbs of birdshot went down range from 410, 28, and 20 gauge shotguns. Got to be 100,000+ rounds of metallic… mostly handgun. 😀
my Dad did not reload to save $. he did it for the ballistics!! and when i say Magnum loads, i mean Magnum loads...!

watched The Gunfighter flic last nite. a young G Peck, never misses, cerca 1950! a catch theme... shty ending... though

🤣Ok, let me rephrase. What would you do with the timber you remove on tree removal job if the costumer dosent want it. Im talking merchantable saw logs lumber grade. Also, when land scaping and tree service is slow, and you have access to both saw logs and firewood logs. What do you feel is most profitable? I guess it all probably depends on what part of the country a guys in?
hey kid!, u tracking the inbound trek of your new skidder? location?
