My friend gave me this Pendal hitch receiver. A couple years ago. Didn't think Id ever need it, but I couldn't just throw it away. With a little penetrating oil and some taping she freed right up. I do believe I'll be swapping out hitches on my Trailer now! 👍View attachment 1055336View attachment 1055337View attachment 1055339

Wow, was it buried out back under the ground or what.
Probably gonna need to clean that hole out on the insert too 😜 .
I've used them before, no interest if I don't have to. But it can be costly to find something HD enough to get the weight limits you need with a standard hitch setup.
Is your receiver heavy enough to handle the weight you plan on putting on it, looks like that hitch alone is 50lbs lol.
Found this nail I cut in a stick of black locust last night. I was surprised it was still shiny, not sure when I cut it, but just thought it should have been rusted at least a little where it was cut. I weighed it and it was 23lbs. It was dead standing when I cut it so it's very dry. Bet that one burns a while.

ha! you won't replace that Jet with no $250 replacement, these days. not even with an Enco!

them's be slick drill mills! i  mine! Enco on Enco stand...
I got extremely lucky with that deal, one of those rare "right place at the right time" deals. I know the round column has its limitations, but it was in considerably better shape than any $250 machine had a right to be.

It was pretty dirty though, I think mostly wood elves used it, judging by all the saw dust that was everywhere.

If I had that sort of coin to spend on a machine, I'd have a hard time dropping $6k on a round column.
How often would you use it? Would it make you money? Do you want it? Do you Need it?
Let me put it like this Sierra!

Do I "Need" 15 🤔 no make that 16 STIHL power saws?
YOUR GOSH DANG RIGHTS I DO!! Everyone of them! Wether some run or not! Drop that coin on that drill press or whatever it is! You'll thank me later! 😉

It's a round column mill...I'm already set with one of those, although mine is belt driven rather than a gear head.
My skepticism or whatever you want to call it is more tied to the style of mill. The round columns like that one or mine, you lose "zero" whenever you raise/lower the head of the mill, much like how a drill press rotates. On a Bridgeport-style milling machine, there is no rotation. For the price of the $6k Jet, you're in the range of comparably sized knee mills that do a better job of being a mill IMO.

That being said, round columns don't deserve all the hate that they get, especially for squids like myself. There are some workarounds to maintain centering of the heads. Also, with a little bit of shimming, my Jet mill/drill has a pretty good tram(head perpendicular to x/y axis) for a cheap 35 year old machine.

A hard, long dead, dry locust was the first locust I cut. Did it inthe evening at dusk. Lots of pretty sparks. I dunno what produces those sparks but I have seen them several times.

They will really fly on black locust, but I've seen them cutting most anything in low light conditions, not sure what causes it either.
Did you take the 400 out for a spin yet? I still haven't found one on Craigslist for $400 yet lol.

U may need to put in a want ad. Wanted u to lose a bunch of money selling me ur MS400 cheap. :dancing:

I believe the sparks from cutting Black Locust (and others ???) is due to the fact they can absorb sand into the tree (depending on the soil).

The trees where my brother built his house were so bad that if I did not buck them the same day (when they were still a bit wet) I would have to sharpen my saw every 2 or 3 rounds! I've cut Black Locust many times later w/o it ever being that bad.
