I just installed pro safety felling dogs on my new 400. Would someone advise regarding the tiny circlip for the chain catcher. There's no groove in the chain catcher to receive it, all my circlip pliers are too big, and I'm sure I'll lose it in the woods if I have to remove the clutch cover to change a chain.
doubt it is even needed. I don't have one on any my saws that have that dog setup.
oops, it holds the plastic roller in place

I did measure as best I could and it was working after I put everything back together. You don't have to remove the clutch and pickup wire (I forget the name) before you put the pump in? One video I watched said you need to to make sure the gears mate.
I had the clutch off to verify proper mesh with the worm gear. My go to method for clutch removal is a 3/8 air impact. Leave the plug in with no rope or piston stop and the compression of the engine gives enough resistance to spin the clutch off. Just make sure you're turning it the right way.

I've used my Makita 4sp 1/4" impact for years. With these you can dial the torque and the speed (4 settings each) way down to just enough or dial it up to what's needed to drive a 6" x 3/8" lag into a 4x4 and snap off the head.

It's been a while since I installed the bumper spikes on my 461... However, from looking at my 461 and 661 the clip simply slips over the end of the stud to hold the plastic "pipe" onto the stud. I don't recall or see a groove for it per se.

I'll look at the one on my 036 in the morning. It's over in the shop and I'm eating apple pie and ice cream now.:sweet:

All you guys talking about air bags and springs were your trucks not properly equipped? 2 tons in the bed and the factory overloads were just barely touching . Truck is 7400 pounds unloaded and the GVW is 10100 lbs so I was 1300 lbs over. The only limiting part on the truck is the tires . Guys I know have put 19s on these trucks to haul more . load.jpgTruck has the heavier tow and plow package springs .plow has very little effect on the front 53F31ECD-9AE5-4060-8350-47B6335E1A5A.jpeg

That's a stout pickup.

The one ton trucks I've had didn't need air bags either.... just the 1/2 ton rigs.

When I was young I use to bug my dad for us to get some pigs, he always said no way, too much work and too much waste in butchering. He always said, just wait until the cuts you like are on sale, and buy up a bunch and put it in the freezer!

SO, all these years later, that's what I'm still doing, and I had the chance to buy 15 pound boxes of bacon for $1.59 per pound, so I bought a box! Here's what it looks like,

Here's some of it all repackaged and ready for the freezer,

There won't be a need to buy any bacon around here for quite a while!

Man I feel inadequate with my baby dogs on my MS400!🤏20220611_172603.jpg
They're sufficient for my needs. The Pro Safetys look mean but then I'd need to get a 24" bar. These work well with my 20" bar.

1/2 tons are toy trucks . I only have one and it’s a 68 and I lowered that one 3 inches in front and 4 in the rear . If I can’t haul in it I might as well scrape the basement ,the other old ones are 3/4 ton

That makes sense I must have dropped that bushing at least three times.

Expedition has them too.
My excursion has them too. Good amount of weight on the rear here, just the winch is probably 500+, then there's a bunch of other junk in my "trunk". I don't have them aired up much and just leave them there for the ride.
My springs should probably be re-arched, she sits pretty flat even without a trailer, and while there's a lot in the back, it seems like an f250 equivalent suspension would it a bit higher.

Took this pic two Saturdays ago of the jack I put on this trailer last summer(we were talking about yours the week prior), really like it. It handles weight well, has the extendable leg(don't have to spin the handle for half an hr), and it wasn't made in china(insert trumps voice here ) .

I don't know what happened to my reply. I have to agree with you my bar just got shorter,

I think I need a new sprocket on my 170. Changed it about a year ago. Will go with a rim sprocket this time.

I need a new B&C also for this saw. I really don't like pico chains (I think that's what it's called). Teeth brake off too easily. Would anyone put a 0.050 regular chain on a 170 with 14" bar? Asking too much out of the saw?

You offended my 1/2 ton.......lol

Actually I drive em for the fuel economy more than anything else, but it's a lot easier to find decent used 1/2 ton rigs for us guys that never buy new vehicles.

I'll give it a try, first. But with my luck, I'll F__K something up  .
If that's the case, you'd do the same thing with the piston stop, might as well save a few bucks and mess it up with rope.
Follow me for more tips:laughing:.
I just put a foot or so of rope in there total and I've never had a problem, and since I've had/have many small huskys, I must be doing something right.

I put the small dogs on my 462 so I get the most reach, those 25" stihl bars seem a little short :sucks:.
