I looked for this truck . Didn’t want the 6.7 as I had heard nothing but bad about it . At the time most quad cabs were short beds which wouldn’t have worked for me . I got a great deal on it last one on the lot stuffed in the back . All the 6.7 s on display . I offered him 13k less than the sticker he countered with 12k . I said at 12k I want running boards he accepted .

Been a great truck replaced a few lines because of corrosion and the transmission at 130k( I cooked it ) and two water pumps . I haven’t even had a burned out bulb on the truck . I did replace the rear the pumpkin rotted but that was a Common thing for AAM axles of the time period . If the truck was a southern truck none of the corrosion would have happened.
All in all I couldn't complain too much about it, lasted a lot longer then the older style of trucks, till it started the nickel and dime stuff. Interior held up pretty well. I hear they are still running it, but the new employees don't like driving stick and keep burning clutches out of it.

This was the best truck I ever owned. 232 straight six farmer 4spd no options other than power steering and disc brakes . 5CB9EA12-129A-4E35-8BE3-6290BCE27EA2.jpeg

Be happy you didn't have an early 6.7L my service truck was one. Gutless pos had all kinds of issues. Fortunately all while it was under warranty. Besides the leaky head and freeze plugs that fell out all the other issues stopped being an issue after the warranty ran out. Truck was still a massive turd w/o the tuner, even got better mpg with the tuner.
Sorry you got a bad one...I know they did some reprogramming early on with the 6.7, I never felt my 08 was as bad(when stock) as I've heard from 07.5 owners. It had decent power for a stock diesel IMO, I think the early ones took a bit to get the turbo to spool up...kinda reminds me of the doggy emissions-controlled Intertrashionals we drive at work. I'm basically having to do boosted launches from stop signs and traffic lights or they are slow AF.

It's been a solid truck for me, only abnormal failure was an AC compressor that crapped the bed by 50k. Also grenaded the dual-mass flywheel and burnt the clutch by 55k, but that was after it found a significant increase in power.

I did do a couple of oil analysis early on in its life...the oil was completely shot before 5k miles and the presence of metals that would suggest internal wear. After that, all the emissions stuff may have fallen off and I did another analysis after a couple oil changes. No more abnormal amounts of metals in the oil and the oil still had most of its viscosity at 5k. They even recommended 10k mile oil changes after the deletes. Fuel mileage went from 13 to 20mpg. Lesson is, I won't ever own a diesel pick up with emissions components. Besides creating increased wear on the engine, replacing a particulate filter is big money.

returned to service: (restored to a running, usable wb after nearly sitting stood up sans no wheel... in one of my outbuildings some 25 years ago! she has front tire aero fareings for high speed use and now a solid tire, no flats ever!! :blob2:scrounged the wheel/tire off junk wb tossed out to curb couple yrs ago. to ensure safe runs at over 250" per minute.... even new handles, too. buy stickers from store still on each handle! heavy beast! not like ones today. but then for high speed running, stability is King! 🤩)

I really wanted them to buy before the 6.7l came out, but they ordered the truck too late and got a very early 6.7l. Still it had well over 200k on it when I left.
