I think the fuel cap leaking as to do with the duckbill valve not being fully seated. There is a star type retainer that is intended to hold the duckbill firmly against the cap to prevent fuel from coming out, if it gets shifted at all the valve doesn't seat and the cap will leak. Sometimes you find the duckbill and the retainer loose in the fuel tank, those really leak...

McMaster Carr has some retainers that are close enough to work, but are a pretty snug fit on the duckbill valve if I recall.

As usual sir you are correct on all counts. I removed all said parts, cleaned and reassembled. I used a socket to try and evenly seat the retainer down on the duckbill. I may remove it one more time and closely inspect the duck bill. My eyes are shot and I could have easily missed a split I suppose.

Last years batch of 40 poulan oem seals were down to 3 left. So ordered more awhile back.
New batch of oem seals arrived yesterday.
Just 20 this time. Slowed up on these saws rebuilds since selling off the topends.

Nice to be able to still get them through suppliers.

Now I know why I can’t find one of those around the valley…they look brand new! Nice
I don’t see them around often anymore. But, I don’t look search like I used to. Some workers and some clean ones in the mix. Still looking for the elusive 85cc, though. One day.
