I've said this before, but I was under the impression that riding mowers with transaxle drives and zero turns should not pull anything. Supposedly hurts the transmission. I've got two old Craftsman geared transmissions that were my work horses. I could pull my 5x8 trailer half full of splits around my yard. Have some issues that have to be repaired on them that I've never gotten around to fixing.
@gggGary, I don't understand your response of 'Wow'. Is $250/cord a good price and my expectations high? To be clear, I'm not offended by your response; I'm just trying to educate myself on a fair price.

That's just what I heard. I wasn't trying to sway anyone. I don't know for sure. I can't afford repairs on a zero turn much less a new one.

Depends on which mower/hydro, they aren't all created the same, there are several different grades/strengths of hydros.
To start with, how are the wheels bolted on? One center nut and it's a weaker variety of hydro. If it has lug nuts like a car, then it's a better/stronger hydro and can take some abuse.
Another thing to look for, does the hydro have a filter and an oil change schedule? Some of the light duty models, don't even have a drain plug to change the oil let alone a filter!

My friends have three mangalista pigs that were supposed to be food that turned into pets. They are just about running them broke with food prices lol. The older two are over 300 pounds now and the other one is about 120.
They also had a kune kune that was supposed to be the pet, but the smaller mangalista was mean to her so they had to rehome her.
Now my friends wife wants to get cows too… I told him that’s a bad idea!

I have a fleet of other “toys”, I’ll just skip the risk. If I remove the ball, I won’t come home to my daughter towing stuff around with it. She thinks that mower is like her little tank sometimes….
Morning scrounge. Had 2 dead cherry trees right across from the shop but to risky for me to cut with the road. MA nature took them down Tuesday with the wind. I stopped traffic and pushed them up on the bank so I could pull them out.

#3 Wow - $500 a cord. I mean yeah with Demo dollars that's prolly about right, BUT there is SO MUCH ash that has to come down, dead wood has negative value around here. CL and FB have "free wood bucked by the curb" ads every day. That HAS to affect the price of delivered firewood.
On towing with my zero turn. Yeah mine is pretty HD, dual pumps, large reservoir, dual filters, 4 bolt wheels 27HP Kohler. It's Woods branded but was made by someone else can't remember who right now. Made (cobbled) my own hitch. Trust me; with my yard, mowing is harder on it than a bit of towing a trailer around my property in cold weather.. I'll see if I can get the skid steer up there today. There's a 20" DBH back leaner ash I want to rope to the skidsteer to ensure it goes the right way, with a pull over if needed. 7,000 pound skidsteer should be good for that..

PS I tow with my Prius also, strictly verboten by Toyota.
That little 275 pound ex personal water craft trailer now load hauler is the handiest, most used, scrounged, back yard engineered, thing I've ever built. Even pulled two bikes back from Florida with it.

I saw oak advertised at $400 and thought that was bad.
Softwood here is usually 150-200 a cord and hardwood is 175-400 a cord......of course seasoned can mean anything from perfectly dried to harvested this morning. LOL
The ones that piss me off are the guys advertising a slightly heaped shortbed as a cord.

true: but it is relevant! qualtiy aside, steel is steel. well, temper and rockwell, too
RE: Grade 8 Bolts: sheer strength in a 5/8 size. For quenched and tempered steels (including Grade 8), the ultimate shear strength has been found to be about 0.62 times the ultimate tensile strength
pushing 3/4s same good enuff for me, overall. i never ever sheared a grade 8 bolt... and i have put some serious horsepower (shock load) to the combo of the parts drag racing, etc....
busted out a few gear teeth, though! lol
