Had the 1985 266se up on the operating table for the past few days, did a nice little bit of work to get her where she is now.
she had 4 broken av mounts, was very poor running. Needle and lever were worn pretty bad and there was rtv gasket maker in the carb.
The cylinder has a chip in the plating, but it just so happened that when I took the base gasket out it never went past the ring anymore,so I said screw it and threw it together after a quick hone and clean up , lots of compression now anyway 🤷🏻‍♂️
Made a new end to the kill switch wire from the 3” that was luckily left attached to the coil, and installed the once missing kill switch with one I had lying around.
Threw in a fresh new carb kit, stole some mounts from my 272 cause I ordered a couple new sets for that one and spares. But when I got it all together it developed a pretty bad air leak, so now I’m faced with fixing an intake block bolt hole 👎🏼 so that’s the next bench task to tackle I guess

They’re deadly aren’t they?! Nice in the hands! How did you mount yours on the bottom?
Did you use need to use a riser to keep it away from the bottom of the case like I did? Curious cause it doesn’t seem like I’d need to use the spacer on my 272 conversion if I were to put it on that saw

I cut mine on the red line so the red circled piece was the piece that was removed, then the yellow dot is where I drilled the new mounting hole, and I drilled a new hole next to the one already drilled in the clutch side of the wrap in the yellow square for mounting
The videos I saw they cut the opposite side where I have the blue line and drilled a new hole where the blue dot is, I didn’t really like that idea so I improvised 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yes, I did the same as you. It just seemed the way to do it. I did put two layers of copper to raise it off the case. Just what I have on hand. I may revisit it later.

Do you need an intake block?
