036s were some badass saws for sure. Them and the 361. 362s feel really watered down in comparisonMy old stock 036 against a ported 590 was kicking a$$ and taking names.

There's a scale tipper for sure. Bet there's nothing that can slow it down though
I got dad's 361 when it became to much saw for him. Even after some work on it I was never impressed compared to my 036. Gotta be someone on here close to you that has a 400 for you to run.
Need one of these after using that to clean up the mess...
I'll leave any other comments for others, as I've never ran one so I have no idea how they suck

Hopefully so. I'm itching to get my hands on one, if you know anyone in Texas associated with the Boy Scouts, I'll be at one of the camps in Athens from the 26th-31st
Maybe a better design for the flippy caps and a proper handlebar angle, but I've never ran a 400, maybe they made them more like a husky, lots of guys seem to like them.Really high end anti-vibe too. Who could ask for anything more?
The 361 was the first stihl that really started taking on some husky properties, you probably just couldn't tell how much faster it was with that more ergonomic handlebar and the spring AV lol.
I always liked my 360, but the ported 361 never gave ma a single problem after many yrs of use. Then I sold it to a guy in Wisconsin and it cracked a fuel line, he sent it back and I fixed it and sent it back to him, he liked it a lt.
Ya I have a natural spring that backs up during winter as it freezes up . It flows around the back but in winter it ends up going into the driveway up past the barn . I would just spin the tires and with the posi diffs it would slide sideways into the snow bank . Didn’t feel like getting studded tires so chains all around . I only used them once on the road that year we got a 3 ft snowfall
I've always though a 362 was a turd of a saw, live my husqy 562xp till I didn't any more, replaced with the 400.
036 is a very solid saw but if that’s the case either the saw builder or the chain sucked on the 590!My old stock 036 against a ported 590 was kicking a$$ and taking names.
The lower price point on the 362 will likely keep it alive ... few folks out there have our knowledge on saws. Those magnesium pistons are not cheap!
There were 3 versions of the 362 so it is kind of hard to respond. The 400 is a runner, you don't have to worry about it.
The most recent version of the 362 is the lightest and strongest, and I'm pretty sure has much better power to weight than that other saw.
Ported 360s and 361s run very strong and have great power to weight. I have a ported 360, it is stout! (One of Matt's favorite saws of mine). He also likes my 044 and my ported 261.

The original 362 was a crappy saw. Then Stihl came out with the M-Tronic version, and it ran much better and had clean air filter technology. However, the Husky 562 was lighter and ran stronger (and it had a few more ccs).
So, Stihl re-designed the 362 and to make it lighter than the 562. The early 562s had a 5-bolt case, which started developing leaks. So, Husky came out with a 6-bolt case which weighted a little more. Now the Stihl was a little lighter, but the Husky a little stronger. Then Stihl came out with the 400 (with more ccs and better transfers) and Stihl had the lighter and stronger saw ... the only downside being the cost.
And there you have it!
