I assume from your posts that you are clueless about seals and bearings.
Clueless might be a strong word here. I notice that you have all of 17 posts here, and Gary is a logger from the PNW with over 2000 posts, so I can safely say that yes he in fact does know about seals and bearings, but that is what should be obvious...
Back to your 036. You and I and many other people on here have posted about poor purchases that we have received from Ebay or Craigslist and asked for advice. To be honest, I understand why people get a little antsy when people keep posting the same thing over again about needing parts, or what could the problem be, etc.
In the future, I would recommend asking here on the forum if anyone has anyy roasted saws that need a rebuild, or someone they may know based oin reputation before parting ways with your hard earned money on Ebay.
036's are excellent saws, I use one as my primary saw still. BUT, that means I USE THE SAW AS MY PRIMARY SAW. That is a lot of work. Firewood is really hard on a saw as is logging. With that said, my saw is almost 10 years old. I bought it used as I couldn't afford a new one, and I was getting a bad case of CAD. Luckily it didn't need a lot of work, and I have run it like mad for the past 2 years.
I got burned on a Husky 2100 that everyone here was really helpful on. I will also say this, I wouldn't get into a pi##ing contest with anyone here about saws. People are very willing to help each other out here. If I needed parts for an 036, I would check out cheapstihlparts on Ebay. Bryce is a good man who has a TON of parts. Next time your CAD gets a little crazy, and you want a roasted saw, just make a post about it in the Trading Post. People WILL answer your request.
As a side note, if you paid over $150 I am sorry, but if you paid less than that just take a bunch of pictures of the parts, and part it out. You'll get it back.
Sorry for the long post,
Jason
