I know this test has been done recently, Brad just beat me to it. This is a comparison between my STOCK 7900 (for now) and a brand spankin new 681 of Maldeney's. A third party did the test for us, well becasue he has both of our saws and vid equipment, and mine won't be stock for much longer so I asked him if he would do a comparison for me and Mark.

They are both wearing the same Bar and chain in the test. Both are in 16" Ash wood run by the same operator.

This test came out a little different than Brads to my surprise, I know that the Solo is on it;s first tank of gas so there is more to come yet and my 7900 is well broke in. Eric did say that my 7900 is the strongest stock 7900 he has ever ran. It was a good running saw, and I was very pleased with it's performance, but after buying this woods ported 5100 and seeing what it runs like, I just had to have my 7900 done too, curiousity kills the cat:)

I timed the 681 in 9.54, the 7900 at 9.50, I timed several times and got the same results a few times. So feel free to grab a stopwatch and see what ya'll get.

No not me, I haven't touched a saw other than to pick one up, it will be a while before I can run one. The man that is porting it did the tests, before he cracked it open:clap:

I wish I could have been running them:greenchainsaw:

If the same guy that ported your 5100 is doing this saw it will no doubt be faster that the competition.......

KWF test reports indicate that there is a pretty large weight difference, more than 1 1/2 pounds in favour of the Dolmar - any opinion on that?

Great video! You may have to fab a Stihl easy-start to your Dolmars, till you heal 100%. lol

didnt Bsnelling weigh his 681 dry on some scales in the other thread.....what was the difference?

on another note i would swear that a stihl 260 is heavier than a husky 346 by feel, but apparently it is not...

Ahhh, this ain't about that, it's just a comparison of 2 stocks saws for now. I hope my 7900 will be faster than the competition, at least that is the plan.:) He does a nice job, and knows what he's doing, I don't think anyone that knows will deny that!!!

Good video!! Those are two awesome saws..... Can't wait til that 7900 is done!!:dizzy::clap:

I don't think anyone is more excited than me about this saw, This is my first saw that I have had ported and of course my mind runs wild. The bad thing is the saw will be done before I'm done healing, so it looks like I get to watch other people have fun running it while I watch... Thats the only way I will get to enjoy it for hte time being....Now the easy start might be something to look into:cheers:

I haven't ran the 681 enough to notice the weight difference, I probably will though now that Mark bought one, I look foward to getting some "GO" time on it...thats if Mark will let me:)

The thing I noticed the times I have ran the 681 was the Soft anti vibe, it didn't seem like it took much to bottom it out, where the rear handle touches the filter. Brad what have you noticed when you dog in, does it bottom out easily??

Just for fun here is a woods ported 361 in the same wood...7900 and 681 get the hiney handed to them. 7.75 seconds...now that just ain't right:censored:

I'm sure if he would have had a larger piece it would have been in it, work with what ya got. All three are tested in the same piece so at least it has a baseline to work with. I can guarentee you I have had a 32" full comp buried on the 7900 and it pulled it just fine, I never thought I'm over using this saw:cheers:
