Men-

Three days ago, I got my hands on one of these beastly little guys. Two days ago I started Modding it. First on the list was bucking spikes, and since nobody sells em, I made em.

Needed:

12 gauge sheet metal
Grinder with Cutting Wheel and Grinding Wheel
Dremel with Grinding Stone
Good Old Hand File
Sharpie
Thick Paper
500 Degree Engine Enamel.

Patience.

Turned out great, work AMAZING.

I will soon start on the muffler with the unlimited coil.

It would be great if people could post muffler mods for this saw so I can gather ideas.

Hey thanks guys, They were allot of work, and they look great in person.

I can't wait to use this thing more, and Do my muffler mod.

I really like the idea up putting a small (length) pipe on an angle out of the front left of the muffler, and then making a screen insert to keep it safe.

How big is the hole underneath the deflector?

Is there a noticeable power gain from just the muffler mod?

3/8 hole. Biggest difference is in the throttle response. I also swapped the limited coil out for a 350 coil.

So I did my muffler Mod...

IT IS AMAZING

it runs stronger, sounds better, is quicker on the throttle.

two questions,

Should it be hotter around the muffler after the mod while running (is this okay?/ will it melt plastics)

How should I tune it, I am unable to go any richer than the stock setting on both the high and low, so should I just leave it if it runs fine? It is a new saw so it will break in and need tuning up but with the opened muffler i could leave it where it is.

Good start for a 17 year old I think.

You will need to pull the limiter cap and give it more fuel on the high side. May also have to adjust the idle also.

Yes, I have mine running 14000. If you do not have a tach you will need to learn to tune by ear.

Done. Tuned right to the top of the four stroking, sounds great, runs cool, and there is a huge gain with this saw on the muffler mod.

I just didn't know whether or not to cut the tabs off, thank you.

~Eric.

Puts allot of other saws to shame.

Do you have a 346xp?

I could post up a digital template for everyone if you want it.

They aren't perfect, but they do look sweet (especially with the muffler modded)
