Well friend dropped this off by the house today saying it wasnt running well.so now to find new piston and cylinder -
Stihl 024 AV Super hard to start but runs good [solved: slack in the throttle rod]
Wanted to post this in case it helps someone else. I have a Stihl 024 AV Super that was hard to start, but after starting ran well. However, it would start just fine if I used a rubber band to hold the throttle trigger all the way in for the CHOKE and START Master Control lever positions... -

Stihl 024 AV Super 1149 version IPL
I have a really old Stihl 024 AV Super Electronic Quickstop. The serial number starts with 1149. Does anyone have the IPL for that saw? The inner side plate is missing and I can't figure out if it is supposed to have one or not. There is no obvious hole for the side plate screw that would keep...- Daniel Haglund

Another 024/026 thred...oh goodie..
Alrighty, I've got what I think is an 024AV. Model number on the side of the piston is 42ZN12....which I think is an 024 jug (42cc). if it were an 026 it would say 44 instead of the 42. My question is, I'd like to resurrect this turd as an 026 as I've already got a decent 024AVWB with a 16"...- mrcommercial

Stihl 024 worth rebuilding?
I have little mechanical know how however I would like to learn more. my dad gave me the 024 because it just stopped running last fall.. I had a shade try small engine guy look at and he said it was the carb and not worth fixing a and gave the saw back in parts without the carb. I will try and...
