026 kill switch lever spring. Argh!

Building an old 026. Kill switch spring hung up like this on. Got a used spring from a teardown of another saw, this one still hangs up on lever. Tried slight bending, either it hangs up or makes no contact. Pain in the Azz.
 
what pioneer guy said and I think your master leaver is broken at the contact....also when ya get wear in the pinch point pivot of the shaft closest to the thumb leaver it can do weird stuff. I build a 034 with a lot of wear there and hat to fit a new leaver spring and drill a hole and run a loop of safety wire up over the shaft to tighten the fit when ya snap the leaver into place......

There is a small piece of plastic that retains the metal spring to provide tension. It’s looking like yours may be broken.

Plastic tab is fine, problem is spring itself. If I bend it so it doesnt hang up on lever when in choke position, then it doesnt make contact. No middle ground.
 
The left edge (in the picture) of the plastic holding the contact wire should extend to the end of the wire. It looks like a piece has been chipped off.

Well if that's the case, time to start looking for parts. My local dealer is a joke, any recommendations on where to buy from?also need oil line from pump to output hole, and a few other odd bits.
 
And it's a red lever too. Ebay has Stens levers for $9 and change. They usually make decent stuff, but not sure about this particular part. An OEM may come along if you're willing to wait. I checked for oil lines too - they were all Chinese. I would be more likely to use a Chinese oil line than fuel line because of the ethanol problem. Their rubber products are not known for durability.

Thanks for the help, I will look up that lever. There is no ethanol in Alaska, so can I just use some fuel line for the oil line, or another common line found at auto parts store? Stihl dealer here takes weeks to get parts in, and they dont know much
 
The lines I saw on Ebay were fitted, but taking a look at the IPL and searching my memory, I believe it is just a length of hose. Stihl makes a black tubing sold by the foot that I think I used in two recent 026's. Surely your Stihl dealer would have standard tubing. Do you have the service manual? Seems it just goes from the oil pump connection and threads through a hole in the case.

Edit: In the listings, I was looking at the oil pickup hose.

Surely your Stihl dealer would have standard tubing.
According to the IPL or repair data that was sent to me, it's just hose that fits over nipple on oil pump, and other end has a small bushing inside of it. I plan to reuse the bushing, along with whatever newfuel line I have here that will fit, or a run to auto parts store. Cant hurt to try. I'm thinking this old one is dried and crack, which could explain why this saw spit out insane amount of oil before I tore it down.
