I know of an 031AV for sale that looks to be in good condition. What's the opinion on this saw? Years of manufacture? Engine size?

I've done a search and some reading in the archieves here, but all I've found so far is that the 031 is hard to work on according to the Stihl techs. I'm not much of a mechanic, so maybe I should stay away from the 031.

Thanks in advance for any input.

They aren't had to work on - just not as convienent as a newer saw... like everythng, once you've done it once, it's easy...

The saw - good old medium size saw. Good for 18 -20 inch bar. Fix lot's of these every week... mostly fuel systems and an occassional bad electronic trigger module. Rewind starters are not the best, and no longer available new, so you are stuck with the used market.

Air filters need to be cleaned quite frequent due to being next to the sawdust chute. Pretty solid unit otherwise. Parts are getting unrealistic price wise.
