056 Timing Mod

In the 80's Stihl issued a timing mod to dealers for 056's with electronic ignition,power increase was good with no problems.
Remove the flywheel and loosen the stator plate screws. Rotate the stator plate clockwise until the washers under the stator plate screws just line up with the end of the slots,then tighten down the screws.
I don't remember the Mag !!'s having a slotted stator plate BUT they did go to smaller 4mm stator plate screws,these became a problem as they commonly came loose and then the screw heads were sheared off by the flywheel! It is best to apply blue loctite to these screws or tap them out and install 5mm screws...
