I know rightAren't we all...
If you have a platform saw - SP125 etc that could do with a freshen up, it may be easier to look for a 101 engine on eBay and build up a saw as others have said.sadly not
You could even use any 790 - 797 platform or possibly a front tank Mac like a 250.If you have a platform saw - SP125 etc that could do with a freshen up, it may be easier to look for a 101 engine on eBay and build up a saw as others have said.
Good buyer here guys, he purchased my CP125S. Mike, let me know your budget as I know where a couple are at, but the last time I spoke with the guy he was up around 2k and not budging. A good 101b motor itself is at least 8 to 900 bucks now days alone.
Somebody would probably give you a hefty finders fee for that nos 101..... cough me cough cough hahaWithin the last few months I was able to pick up 3 101's in the 5 hundred range. One was NOS never been run.
If he's going to put into a stock saw chassis then he won't need exhaust or intake. Short block with head is about
all you will need.
Well, I'd say you are in the right spot at the right time. I paid $650 for the one I have and it doesn't have the tapered crank shaft, but otherwise in good shape.Within the last few months I was able to pick up 3 101's in the 5 hundred range. One was NOS never been run.

I’m looking for 101b block if possible willpay shipping complete block would be nice thanks JamesThey are out there but building one will be easier than finding one
Old Post I know....this caught my eye. I didn't know a 101 would fit in a front tank chassis?
Hi I want a 101b for my 790 will pay shipping what ever it takes the quest for 101b has been tough specially down here in nz got onto some one on face book said he had 101b saw showed me picture removable head two dimples like chainsawguy said payed a lot over 1500 usd when it got here it was 790 alest I got 790 out off it still telling my wife it’s the 101b the greatest saw everIt will bolt right in but there are a couple obstacles. The main issue is the stuffer
as the long stroke of a 101 will hit the stuffer on a short stroke motor. Also the
side cover with the points is for a super series motor so will need to use a super
series fan housing. I have never done one in a front tank but this is what I see as
being an issue.
