Lee,
It might be interesting to note (for those who don't know) how many hours of labor are involved for a project of this magnitude. How many times did you put it together and take it back apart? How long did it take just to get the fuel tank to work out? including the time to find the necessary parts after you figured out which ones to even use?
The point being that it takes an INCREDIBLE amount of time and dedication, thought, and a VERY high skill level to accomplish a project such as this. Then there is the cost of all the NOS parts that you have installed, as well as the reconditioned ones, besides the fabrication and the thought processes that go along with it! So please enlighten us to the amount of time currently expended as well as the amount of time anticipated to complete the project, I think it would be enlightening to those who do not know...
2 Things,
1. This is a thoroughly impressive project, showcasing your exceptionally high skill level, AWESOME WORK!
2. You forgot something!
Where you gonna put the 101G Sticker?

Thanks Brian and Tina,
It's a good question for those that haven't
done a project like this. Unfortunately i did not
keep track of the time into this saw or do any
blue prints. All i can say is it was a lot of thought
that went into it. Once started i had to redo a couple
things, "you know the mistakes we make" There was
a lot of assembly and disassembly just to get things
the way i wanted. So far so good, I think.
All i can say is there is a lot of work but not as much
as other modded saws out there.

On every 101 I've seen a 10-24 nut wiil fit behind that hole. I have seen a couple that were taped to quarter inch but that is not much mag alloy to bite onto.

I have seen on mine were the 3rd "bolt" hole is in the muffler used as just a pusher? or were the bolt is just back nutted to the cylinder or block.

Here's the 101G all done and barking up a storm.
Man is thing LOUD, It's OMG LOUD.
I put this 36 incher on it with 404 full chisel chain.
Running a 9 pin sproket. This saw ended up with
a 3-1 gear box. I was minus one gear for the 2-1
set up and couldn't find one.

Here are 2 videos. This wood is extremely hard.
It has been on the ground for a couple years.
The one thing the saw needs is a chain, And i
mean a good sharp chain. I gave it my best but
think it could be better. I knocked the rakers
down to just over 40 thou, I might go a bit more.
I also made the OSHA approved muffler thats
very environmentally friendly.

Hmm... I might weld up a similar 'muffler' to yours for my 790...

I love that thing, It's got nutz!!!! You will kick some butt with that saw, especially with a 2:1 gearbox. I hope you can find the gear you need for that 2:1 box. I can see that would result in a big improvement to its already off the chain cutting speed.

Beautiful saw. I'd give you a trophy if I had one that has something to do with saws.

Thank you much guys, It was a fun build
that i really enjoyed. Alot of time but still fun.
Once i got it running i had an issue. Bad air
leak somewhere. Tore half the saw appart except
the gearcase and couldn't see anything wrong.
I pulled both flywheel side crank seals and both
looked good. Put 2 new ones in and reassembled
the damn thing and away it went. I still don't
really know where the leak was but it's gone.
All gaskets and seals were new from the start.
I think i might get me a bigger HL360 carb and
see if it makes any difference.
It has incredible throttle response as it is now.
I'm sure it will make a bit more power as it gets
broke in. And definately not the easiest saw to
start. Not decomp.

Next i will be finishing up the 797G, It is almost
done.

Thanks Lee

Wow, amazing build. Runs very well and sounds just as good. Looks amazing, I even used a pic for my desktop background. How much do you want for it? :D

Awesome sounding saw. I would like to run that one sometime.

Holy #### Lee, that thing is snappy. Holding a lot of RPM's in the cut too. Great project and job - Sam
