2055 questions

Ok, so here is the 2055 I picked up. I found a pinched line and have replaced it. The problem is I do not know what the line was for? Any guesses. I have not cleaned this up either. I got it this way.

It has a sort of check valve in the line. It is not connected to the carb in any way. What should the direction of flow be for the check valve? Thanks for the help guys. When I get it sorted and running. I will post better pictures.

That`s your tank vent, it allows air to enter the tank as fuel is drawn off, it might not let air or fuel vapors out of the tank to meet Enviroment regs.(EPA)

So the check valve should be towards the metal fitting then.

Try to draw air through the fitting/valve, whatever direction you can draw air through would go towards the tank, that will allow air to enter the tank. Air or pressure does not have to be vented to the atmosphere/outside of the tank.
